Luke 6 vs 21-26

Luke Chapter 6 Verse 20
•Now it could be that Luke is giving us sound bites essentially from the sermon on the mount. Because when you read Matthew Chapter 5, Matthew gives us 8 “Blessed” statements but here in Luke we only have 4 and the 4 that we have aren’t ordered as they are in Matthew. Or, it could be that this is a completely different encounter.
•Earlier in this chapter, in verse 17 we read that Jesus came down from the mountain and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples…so He’s not on the mountain at all…therefore this probably isn’t the same sermon on the mount but rather another sermon Jesus gave. That is supported by the fact that in verses 24-26, Jesus gives 4 “woe” statements that aren’t found in the Sermon on the Mount. So, I believe this is an entirely different time and sermon.
•Jesus is essentially faced with two types in the crowd he is addressing here in Luke 6. His disciples and the Pharisees. Hence the blessed statements followed by the woe statements. And so, we can take these two sections as marks of a disciple, a follower, a lover and truster in the Lord…and marks of a false disciple. (Or really a disciple in a back-slidden state) Why not just unbeliever? Because the Pharisees were believers! They had devoted their entire lives to God! But they were like white-washed tombs.
•This is what Jesus said of them in Matthew 23:27-28, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” With that, this is a section of scripture that we can use to X-Ray our own faith…our own walks. Where are we right now? Disciples of Jesus…or…not?
•Here’s why you wanna. Disciple of Jesus seek after and walk in the will of God. [KEY POINT 1] When you are in the will of God, everyone wins. You win, they win, people around you win, those that love you win, those that you love win…It’s the winner’s circle. That’s why you want to do this. Take an honest assessment of where your feet are, and we should do this often!
•Last week we started with Verse 20. That the disciple of Jesus realized his own or her own poverty of Spirit and inability to proceed well, right or profitably without the leadership and direction of the Spirit of God. This is not someone down on themselves, this is someone alive to the grace of God. Being down on myself just means that I’m waiting for one day where I won’t be…so I work and earn and achieve until I start feeling better about myself…you see that’s just pride pouting and it’s a viscous cycle. Better to just settle that apart from Christ, I truly am nothing…but in Christ, although I make boat-loads of mistakes, my worth is secure because of who He is…and so I get up and get back at it time and time again…and God is glorified even in my mistakes!
•You need to hear this… [Key Point 2] to follow Jesus, you have to receive His love. I mean you just can’t go after Him without this. The love that God has for you is not based on what you’ve done, haven’t done, what you’re capable of, what you’re not capable of…the love that you are so loved with is based solely on God’s goodness and receiving that makes Him the object of the relationship, not you. It’s really all about Him. That’s why we worship Him, pray to Him, trust in Him, seek to learn more and more about Him…you really need to consider this and try to get there…because when you do, now you just love Him…not His blessings, what He can and does do for you in this world.
•You see, I often feel like I’m not good enough…especially not good enough for God. But what then is my standard for good enough? I don’t know…a feeling? Good luck with that! We feel not good enough and don’t even know what good enough is…I mean, it can’t be perfection but maybe one degree removed? Yea right! Then my flesh and the enemy are just going to badger me all day about that one degree off and show me people all around me that are seemingly perfect and then I start comparing and man I’m not smart enough, rich enough, pretty enough, skinny enough, muscular enough…ugh. Better to enter into the rest of Jesus Christ and make your life and faith about Him, and not so much about you…worship gets so much better. Life gets so much easier. Days and moments become so much more joyful.
•So, “Blessed are you, poor in spirit (thanks to Matthew), for yours is the Kingdom of God.” A mark of following Jesus Christ…continuing…
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 21a
•This isn’t hunger in the sense of the physical but rather we know from Matthew 5:6 additional context that this is, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” And this again is a mark of someone that is truly following the Lord. That they hunger…they have this deep-seeded want and need and desire in their heart of hearts for righteousness in their life.
•Not just to be right amongst men or in the discussion, situation or whatever but to be right with God. To serve God! Above all else, there is a desire to do what the Lord would have you to do. Yes, out of adoration and response to God but also just out of wisdom. [Key Point 3] God can be trusted. His Word can be entirely relied upon…and the true believer is going to…well…believe!
•Now, that kind of faith is going to put you at times in a place of hunger and thirst naturally because the convenient, the wide and easy path, is not the one that is going to lead to a Godly outcome. Your mom ever say growing up, “Don’t eat that, you’ll spoil your dinner!” Same concept! Pass on the junk and wait just a little longer for what is good! And so, you walk by faith and not by sight and in doing so you have to give up the easy for the righteous often times which will cause your flesh to throw a fit… But look what Jesus says, take heart, you will be filled.
•The flesh will never fill you…it only scratches an itch…but the itch comes back… [Key Point 4] Sin/flesh is like a rash…scratch it and it will spread! But going after righteousness…that moves you on, fills you up…the word means to satisfy. Fleshly/sin satisfaction is an oxymoron…never happens.
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 21b
•Another mark of a follower, friend and disciple of Jesus is someone who weeps in their heart, pains in their heart, over sin. First and foremost, their own… If you don’t experience pain, discomfort when you are in the flesh or in sin, then that is very troubling especially if you consider yourself a Christian. Jesus says here, that pain, its normal. Not to be refused…listen to it, heed it, do something to relieve it…which is to simply repent…stop it…and change.
•And then He gives hope, don’t stay there… Repent and the pain should subside. You’re not there anymore. It’s not who you are anymore. [Key Point 5] Repentance calls for, enables and enacts a change of heart. And so yea, I once did that, but man I’m not that anymore. I can talk about it, share it even with you, because my shame was erased with the repentance. This is the statement of the Lord here in that weep now but there’s no weep later…its laugh which again, this is cool, in the Greek implies that a satisfaction with the whole thing has set in! The flesh cannot do this for you!
Luke Chapter 6 Verses 22 – 23
•Hate you, exclude you, revile you, cast out your name as evil…I’m supposed to believe that I will be blessed when that happens? Absolutely not! All of those things are terribly difficult and harming and can even have life-long wounding effects. But here’s the key, what if those things happen for the Son of Man’s sake? If those things happen because you choose Jesus over that person or group? Then truly, you will be blessed.
•Your sense of character surges. Your self-confidence catapults. Your own internal trustworthiness increases in your own mind. I mean, if you were to make a list of the people you trusted the most, would you put your name on it? Yes! Yes, I would, absolutely! And the only reason I can say that is because I know the Lord, I know He is right, and I know, from suffering situations, that I will choose Him. That kind of confidence and that kind of bond between you and the Lord…so very blessed!!
•This is trust, this is bond, this is confidence, this is security, this is something so real…when you have a link with someone and you know that no matter what, that link will not and cannot be broken or even challenged! How special when you have that humanly, how blessed when you have that divinely!
•Jesus gives you a glimpse if you know nothing of this…, “Rejoice, leap for joy! Great is your reward in the presence of Jesus! Take your place amongst those saints of old approved by God!”
•Being excluded is terribly difficult. To be hated, ok. To be reviled, ok. But to be excluded speaks of perhaps folks close to you or people you would consider friends…sometimes even family. Very difficult…because you find yourself asking why. It challenges you to a depth that you didn’t even know was challengeable! Why am I not enough? Why don’t they want me? How can they be so cruel or mean after I felt and they said I was so important? Can anyone do this? Is anything real? Challenges everything! Don’t do this to people by the way…
•Listen, the problem isn’t you…it’s them and so know this, that never happens with the Lord. He is good and He is perfect and He loves you…there is no exclusivity with Jesus. Anyone that comes to Him, He receives…He protects…He commits Himself completely to…
•Now Jesus changes course a bit, something you do not find in Matthew Chapter 5, and pronounces woe or difficulty or regret on those that perhaps are disciples by name but not in heart. It’s just no good…[Key Point 6] you cannot be a Christian without giving your heart to God. Ezekiel 36:26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” God cannot take from you what you will not give to Him. And so, know all of this goodness. Understand the things of God and the scriptures…but without the heart given over, you cannot be His disciple and these woes perhaps can be a warning and an admonition to you.
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 24
•This is not to the rich with material things…because you can use those things unto the glory of God…this is rich in their own minds. Who say they are in need of nothing. AKA, won’t change. The church of Laodicea, Jesus says in Revelation 3:17-19, “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.” Or woe…your consolation is to live hard…go numb…never grow and miss so much love and joy and freedom that God has planned out already for you!
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 25a
•Full of yourself… We ought to be being filled with the Holy Spirit…not the thought of self…but if not, hunger will come. On all levels…
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 25b
•Laughing is great, a most wonderful gift and ability from God…but this is not laugh in joy, this is laugh in expense. In expense of the Holy Spirit as He grieves, at the expense of those you are excluding or choosing to be cruel to…or laughing at the expense of yourself. Laughing something off…not addressing what needs to be addressed… Man handle the business… or just know, and you have the right to do this, you are choosing to weep in the future…perpetually.
Luke Chapter 6 Verse 26
•Tough one. But in the end, do you want God to speak well of you or do you want men to speak well of you? And you’re included in that “men.” Charles Spurgeon once said, “The Gospel and the things of God offend men because it is intolerant of sin.” This is a woe pronounced by Jesus for me and for you when we walk in the flesh, talk in the flesh, do things in the flesh, and the people around us approve of it…don’t stand against it…regret is ahead.
•These woes are not your sure future. At any time, God calls you even now to simply come to Him, bow the knee to Him and receive grace. The Christian walk and experience, really the human experience is meant to be joyful. Filled with grace. Love, laughter, energy, passion, zeal and life. God has invited me to that I know…but God will never take from me what I do not give to Him…and so I need to and you need to, even now, choose Him and hand over to Him your heart completely!


Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 20
· Ahora bien, podría ser que Lucas nos esté dando fragmentos de sonido esencialmente del sermón del monte. Porque cuando lees el capítulo 5 de Mateo, Mateo nos da 8 declaraciones de "Bendito", pero aquí en Lucas solo tenemos 4 y las 4 que tenemos no están ordenadas como en Mateo. Eso está respaldado por el hecho de que en los versículos 24-26, Jesús da 4 declaraciones de "ay de" que no se encuentran en el Sermón del Monte. · Jesús se enfrenta esencialmente a dos tipos de la multitud a la que se dirige aquí en Lucas 6. Sus discípulos y los fariseos. De ahí las benditas declaraciones seguidas de las declaraciones de “ ay de”. Y entonces, podemos tomar estas dos secciones como marcas de un discípulo, un seguidor, un amante y confiado en el Señor ... y marcas de un falso discípulo. · Esto es lo que Jesús dijo de ellos en Mateo 23: 27-28: “¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque sois como sepulcros blanqueados que en verdad parecen hermosos por fuera, pero por dentro están llenos de huesos de muertos y de toda inmundicia. Así también ustedes, por fuera, parecen justos a los hombres, pero por dentro están llenos de hipocresía e iniquidad ". Con eso, esta es una sección de las escrituras que podemos usar para hacer una radiografía de nuestra propia fe ... nuestros propios paseos. ¿Dónde estamos ahora mismo? Discípulos de Jesús ... ¿o ... no?
· He aquí por qué quieres. Discípulo de Jesús busca y camina en la voluntad de Dios. [PUNTO CLAVE 1] Cuando estás en la voluntad de Dios, todos
ganan. Tú ganas, ellos ganan, la gente que te rodea gana, los que te aman ganan, los que amas ganan ... Es el círculo de ganadores. Por eso quieres hacer esto. Haz una evaluación honesta de dónde están sus pies, ¡y deberíamos hacerlo a menudo!
· La semana pasada comenzamos con el versículo 20. Que el discípulo de Jesús se dio cuenta de su propia pobreza de Espíritu e incapacidad para proceder bien, correctamente o de manera provechosa sin el liderazgo y la dirección del Espíritu de Dios. Este no es alguien que esta duro con consigo mismo, es alguien que vive de la gracia de Dios. Ser duro consigo mismo solo significa que estoy esperando un día en el que no estaré ... así que trabajo, gano y logro hasta que empiezo a sentirme mejor conmigo mismo ... ves que es solo orgullo hacer pucheros y es un ciclo viscoso. Es mejor establecer que aparte de Cristo, realmente no soy nada ... pero en Cristo, aunque cometo muchos errores, mi valor está asegurado debido a quién es Él ... así que me levanto y vuelvo a hacerlo una y otra vez, y otra vez ... ¡y Dios es glorificado incluso en mis errores!
· Necesitas escuchar esto… [Punto clave 2] para seguir a Jesús, tienes que recibir Su amor. Quiero decir que no puedes ir tras Él sin esto. El amor que Dios tiene por ti no se basa en lo que has hecho, lo que no has hecho, de lo que eres capaz, de lo que no eres capaz ... el amor con el que eres tan amado se basa únicamente en el amor, la bondad de Dios y su recepción de ello lo convierte a Él en el objeto de la relación, no a ti. Realmente se trata de Él. Es por eso que lo adoramos, oramos en Él, confiamos en Él, buscamos aprender más y más acerca de Él ... realmente necesitas considerar esto y tratar de llegar allí ... porque cuando lo haces, ahora simplemente lo amas a Él ... no a Sus bendiciones, o solo lo que Él puede hace por ti en este mundo.
· Verás, a menudo siento que no soy lo suficientemente bueno ... especialmente no lo suficientemente bueno para Dios. Pero, ¿cuál es entonces mi nivel para ser suficientemente bueno? No sé ... ¿un sentimiento? ¡Buena suerte con eso! Nos sentimos NO suficientemente buenos y ni siquiera sabemos qué significa lo suficientemente bueno ... Quiero decir, no puede ser la perfección, pero ¿tal vez un grado quitado? ¡si claro, por supuesto! es mi carne y el enemigo me van a acosar todo el día con ese grado de diferencia y muéstrame a la gente a mi alrededor que parezca perfecta y luego empiezo a comparar y, hombre, no soy lo suficientemente inteligente, lo suficientemente rica, lo suficientemente bonita, lo suficientemente delgada, lo suficientemente musculosa ... uf. Es mejor entrar en el reposo de Jesucristo y hacer que tu vida y tu fe se centren en Él, y no tanto en ti ... la adoración se vuelve mucho mejor. La vida se vuelve mucho más fácil. Los días y los momentos se vuelven mucho más alegres.
· Entonces, "Bienaventurado eres, pobre de espíritu (gracias a Mateo), porque tuyo es el Reino de Dios". Una marca de seguir a Jesucristo ... continuamente ...
Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 21a
· Esto no es hambre en el sentido físico, sino que sabemos por el contexto adicional de Mateo 5: 6 que esto es, "Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia, porque ellos serán saciados". Y esto nuevamente es una marca de alguien que realmente está siguiendo al Señor. Que tienen hambre ... tienen este deseo, necesidad y deseo profundamente arraigados en su corazón de corazón por la justicia en su vida.
· No solo para estar bien entre los hombres o en la discusión, situación o lo que sea, sino para estar bien con Dios. ¡Servir a Dios! Por encima de todo, existe el deseo de hacer lo que el Señor quiere que hagas. Sí, por adoración y respuesta a Dios, pero también por sabiduría. [Punto clave 3] Se puede confiar en Dios. Se puede confiar completamente en Su Palabra ... y el verdadero creyente va a ... bueno ... ¡creer!
· Ahora, ese tipo de fe te pondrá a veces en un lugar de hambre y sed naturalmente porque el camino conveniente, ancho y fácil, no es el que lo llevará a un resultado piadoso. Tu madre alguna vez dijo al crecer: "¡No comas eso, te estropeará la cena!" ¡Mismo concepto! ¡Pase la basura y espere un poco más por lo que es bueno! Y así, caminas por fe y no por vista y al hacerlo tienes que renunciar a lo fácil para lo que es justo muchas veces, lo que hará que tu carne haga un berrinche,... Pero mira lo que dice Jesús, anímate, serás lleno del Espíritu.
· La carne nunca te llenará ... solo rasca la picazón ... pero la picazón vuelve. ... [Punto clave 4] El pecado / la carne es como un sarpullido, una picazón ... ¡rasca y se esparcirá! Pero ir tras la justicia ... que te mueve, te llena ... la palabra significa satisfacer. La satisfacción carnal / pecado es un oxímoron ... nunca sucederá.
Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 21b
· Otra marca de un seguidor, amigo y discípulo de Jesús es alguien que llora en su corazón, dolor en su corazón, por el pecado. En primer lugar, el suyo propio ... Si no experimenta dolor, incomodidad cuando está en la carne o en el pecado, entonces eso es muy preocupante, especialmente si te consideras cristiano. Jesús dice aquí que el dolor es normal. No ser rechazado ... escucharlo, prestarle atención, hacer algo para aliviarlo ... que es simplemente arrepentirse ... detenerlo ... y cambiar.
· Y luego Él da esperanza, no te quedes ahí ... Arrepiéntete y el dolor debería desaparecer. Ya no estás allí. Ya no es quien eres. [Punto clave 5] El arrepentimiento exige, permite y promulga un cambio de corazón. Y sí, una vez hice eso, pero hombre, ya no soy eso. Puedo hablar de ello, compartirlo hasta contigo, porque mi vergüenza se borró con el arrepentimiento. Esta es la declaración del Señor aquí en ese llanto ahora, pero no hay llanto después ... su risa, que de nuevo, esto es genial, en el griego implica que ¡una satisfacción con todo el asunto ha comenzado! ¡La carne no puede hacer esto por ti!
Lucas Capítulo 6: 22-23
· Odiarte, excluirte, injuriarte, arrojar tu nombre como malvado… ¿Se supone que debo creer que seré bendecido cuando eso suceda? ¡Absolutamente no! Todas esas cosas son terriblemente difíciles y dañinas e incluso pueden tener efectos de por vida. Pero aquí está la clave, ¿y si esas cosas suceden por causa del Hijo del Hombre? ¿Si esas cosas suceden porque eliges a Jesús sobre esa persona o grupo? Entonces, verdaderamente, serás bendecido.
· Tu sentido de carácter surge. Tu confianza en ti de quien eres en El se catapulta. Tu propia confiabilidad de El interna en ti aumenta en tu propia mente. Quiero decir, si hicieras una lista de las personas en las que más confías, ¿pondrías tu nombre en ella? ¡Sí! ¡Sí, lo haría, absolutamente! Y la única razón por la que puedo decir eso es porque conozco al Señor, sé que Él tiene razón y sé, por situaciones de sufrimiento, que lo elegiré. Ese tipo de confianza y ese tipo de vínculo entre usted y el Señor ... ¡¡Qué bendición !!
· Esto es confianza, esto es vínculo, esto es confianza, esto es seguridad, esto es algo tan real ... cuando tienes un vínculo con alguien y sabes que no importa qué ¡ese vínculo no se romperá ni se podrá desafiar! ¡Qué especial es eso cuando lo tienes eso humanamente, cuan gran más qué bendición cuando lo tienes eso divinamente!

· Jesús te da un vistazo si no sabes nada de esto…, “¡Alégrate, salta de alegría! ¡Grande es tu recompensa en la presencia de Jesús! ¡Toma tu lugar entre los santos de la antigüedad aprobados por Dios! "
· Ser excluido es tremendamente difícil. Ser odiado, ok. Para ser vilipendiado, está bien. Pero ser excluido habla quizás de personas cercanas a usted o personas que consideraría amigos ... a veces incluso familiares. Muy difícil ... porque te preguntas por qué. ¡Te desafía a una profundidad que ni siquiera sabías que era desafiante! ¿Por qué no soy suficiente? ¿Por qué no me quieren? ¿Cómo pueden ser tan crueles o malos después de que me sentí y me dijeron que era tan importante? ¿Alguien puede hacer esto? ¿Hay algo real? ¡Desafía todo! Por cierto, no le hagas esto a la gente ...
· Escucha, el problema no es usted ... son ellos y sepa esto, eso nunca sucede con el Señor. Él es bueno y perfecto y te ama… no hay exclusividad con Jesús. Todo el que viene a Él, lo recibe ... Él protege ... Él se compromete completamente a ...
· Ahora Jesús cambia un poco de rumbo, algo que no encuentras en Mateo Capítulo 5, y pronuncia ay, o una dificultad o arrepentimiento sobre los que quizás sean discípulos de nombre pero no de corazón. Simplemente no es bueno ... [Punto clave 6] no puedes ser cristiano sin entregar tu corazón a Dios. Ezequiel 36:26 dice: “Les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes; Quitaré el corazón de piedra de su carne y les daré un corazón de carne ". Dios no puede quitarte lo que no le vas a dar. Y entonces, conozca toda esta bondad. Entiende las cosas de Dios y las Escrituras… pero sin el corazón entregado, no puedes ser Su discípulo y estos males que el pronuncia tal vez puedan ser una advertencia y una amonestación para ti.


Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 24
· Esto no es para los ricos con cosas materiales ... porque puedes usar esas cosas para la gloria de Dios ... esto es ser rico en sus propias mentes. Quienes dicen que no necesitan nada, con apodo, no cambiará. La iglesia de Laodicea, Jesús dice en Apocalipsis 3: 17-19, “Porque dices: 'Soy rico, me he hecho rico y no tengo necesidad de nada', y no sabes que eres un miserable, un miserable, un pobre, un ciego. y desnudo, te aconsejo que me compres oro refinado en el fuego, para que te hagas rico; y vestiduras blancas para vestirte, para que no se manifieste la vergüenza de tu desnudez; y unge tus ojos con colirio para que veas. Yo reprendo y castigo a todos los que amo. Por tanto, sé celoso y arrepiéntete ”. ¡O, elige el ay de... tu consuelo es vivir duramente ... entumecerse ... nunca crecer y perder tanto amor, gozo y libertad que Dios ya ha planeado para ti!
Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 25a
· Lleno de ti mismo… Deberíamos estar llenos del Espíritu Santo… no el pensamiento de ti mismo… y si no, vendrá el hambre. En todos los niveles ...
Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 25b
· Reír es grandioso, un regalo maravilloso y una habilidad de Dios… pero esto no es reír con alegría, es reír a costa de. A expensas del Espíritu Santo mientras Él se aflige, a expensas de aquellos a quienes excluyes o con quienes eliges ser cruel ... o te ríes a costa de ti mismo. Reírse de algo ... no abordar lo que necesita ser abordado ... El hombre maneja el negocio ... o simplemente sabe, y tienes derecho a hacer esto, está eligiendo llorar en el futuro ... perpetuamente.
Lucas Capítulo 6 Versículo 26
· Una cosa difícil. Pero al final, ¿quieres que Dios hable bien de ti o quieres que los hombres hablen bien de ti? Y estás incluido en ese "hombres". Charles Spurgeon dijo una vez: "El Evangelio y las cosas de Dios ofenden a los hombres porque es intolerante con el pecado".
