MISSIONS
“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.
—Deuteronomy 15:7-8
SILO Storehouse was born out of a deep commitment to serve the underserved with the purpose to embody God’s compassion within the community surrounding Calvary Chapel Cherry Creek by providing food for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Our journey began by forging a strategic collaboration with the McKinney-Vento liaison for the Cherry Creek School District, with the objective of supplying weekly food totes to unhoused students. The totes are intended to provide an ample supply of shelf-stable food, sustaining a family of four throughout a weekend. Each tote contains carefully planned meals, including 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 3 dinners, and snacks. Additionally, SILO offers toiletries, laundry detergent, and dish soap every 4 weeks. Our ministry began with the distribution of 10 totes in the 2023 school year, and since then, it has expanded to providing 23 totes. Praise God for the success of this ministry!
Every Wednesday, the dedicated members of C4’s congregation come together to pack these essential totes. The SILO team then ensures their delivery to the McKinney-Vento liaison, who distributes to students in need.
The ministry’s long-term vision aims to expand support to more students and to extend beyond the school setting, by fulfilling the fundamental needs of senior citizens within our community.
The SILO team is privileged to work in partnership with C4’s congregation. Together, we strive to embody God's love within our community. As we continue this mission, we seek your ongoing participation through prayers, monetary contributions, food donations, and volunteers. With the current cost of each tote at $36.00 per week, your support plays a pivotal role in creating a meaningful impact on the lives of those we aim to serve.
Feel free to contact April or Renée if you're interested in learning more about this ministry or to explore ways to participate in this important work.
