Revelation 5 vs 8-14

Revelation Chapter 5 Verse 8

 When Jesus came forward and took the scroll from the Father who

was seated upon the throne of heaven, John witnesses something

monumentally significant! Earlier, in Chapter 4, we learned that the

four living creatures in the midst of the throne and around the throne,

their sole purpose without rest day or night is to proclaim worship of

God. It says in Revelation 4:8, “They do not rest day or night saying,

‘Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to

come!’”

 But check this out! Critically consequential and epochally material to

you and to me and to every bit and part of creation…! At this action of

Jesus, the proclamation of who Jesus is and what He has done, these

four living creatures (joined by the 24 elders) fall down at HIS feet.

Did they rest from their worship! Did something change! No…not at

all! Do you remember what Jesus said to Satan when Satan tried to get

Jesus to worship Him? Luke 4:8, “And Jesus answered and said to

him, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the

Lord your God, and Him ONLY you shall serve!’’”

 You have to face this fact that I am about to present to you. This is

heaven! The only One to be worshipped in truth, at all, let alone in

heaven…is God alone. That’s not a directive, that is a reality. There

is no worship in heaven that is not true and right and holy and pure. It

simply is not possible. Therefore, the fact that must be faced…who is

this Lamb? This Lamb slain, the only One in all of existence that is

worthy and able to pay your debt of sin and my debt of sin? Who is

Jesus if it is He that is worshipped in heaven!?

 Jesus cannot be the brother of Lucifer. If that was the case then the

Lamb would get tossed out of heaven right now! Jesus cannot be

Michael the Archangel! Jesus cannot be a good man or a prophet.

Worship belongs to God alone…, so the fact that must be faced in

honestly contemplating this scene…! Jesus must be God!

 And what He has done, what He has accomplished, pivots not only all

of us from only one option and that is hell due to our sin, but it pivoted

all of creation, all of heaven, the four living creatures, the elders, the

angels…, this scroll is not a poster of Justin Timberlake, obviously! It

is the right to redeem all of us and all of them!

 Now, why are they holding the golden bowls full of incense, which are

the prayers of the saints? I believe the answer was given to us by Paul

in Romans 8:18-22. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present

time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be

revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly

waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was

subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it

in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the

bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth

pangs together until now.”

 This is that moment…all of the groanings of all of creation collected

to be met and healed with mercy in this moment. This is the

culmination of every pure and perfect prayer and groaning ever

prayed. Be it for comfort, guidance, wisdom, relief and even calling

upon God for salvation. The bowls are full and every prayer is

answered in Jesus being worthy and able to redeem mankind unto

eternal life. Life without unmet wants and needs, pain, suffering, sin

and sickness. Life that literally is the answered prayer of every saint.

Revelation Chapter 5 Verses 9 – 10

 Notice song breaks out and it begins, “You are worthy for You were

slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood, out of every tribe

and tongue and people and nation.”

 And so clearly heaven is not only comprised of 144,000 JW’s. And so

clearly heaven is not comprised only of Arabs. And so clearly heaven

is not comprised of only Jews. All of these false doctrines clearly

refuted by the song of heaven itself… However, heaven is clearly

comprised of only those that are covered in the blood of the Lamb…

“For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood.”

 This song…who is the only group on earth that can sing those lyrics?

Only the church! We read in Revelation Chapter 1 verse 5, “To Him

who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has

made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and

dominion forever and ever, amen.” That’s the who. The when is also

important. What chapter does the Great Tribulation begin? Chapter 6.

What chapter is this? Chapter 5. Where is the church? In heaven…

 “You have made us kings and priests to our God…” Kings because of

our royal birth and priests because we need no other mediator

between us and God except for God Himself. Kings as all of us are

now part of His Kingdom because of the Lamb, because of what Jesus

has done. And priests who are filled with the Holy Spirit of God,

representing God to earth (through the fruit of the Spirit, and earth to

God (through prayer)).

 And notice the end of this verse…,” we shall reign on the earth!” That

is your portion, believer! A king, a queen, a priest, a priestess! Put

that in the very midst of your dealings today? You will one day sing

this song, and on that day, will it be familiar? I hope so! Because in

understanding this your present perspective will be purified and

powerfied! (New word!!)

Revelation Chapter 5 Verses 11 - 12

 I love this. When does true worship take place? Is it when the

worship leader is on their game? Is it when the right songs for your

right mood are selected by the worship team? Is it when every line is

perfect and every strum is just right? Is it when the slides perfectly

align to the singing? Does that ever happen!? No! HA!

 Real worship happens when your eyes are fixed on Jesus! Real

deal heavenly throne type worship happens when you realize that

you have been redeemed in a totally unworthy, unlovable and lost

state by the blood of the God who created you and loves you

unconditionally who is totally worthy and perfect before and after He

did it! Real worship happens when you see the Lamb slain! The

most impactful worship, the sweetest time of singing praises to the

Lord have nothing at all to do with the songs, the music, the worship

team or the person next to you! True worship unlocks in your heart

when you love the Lord because of the understanding of exactly

what was done for you because that reveals to YOU how you are

loved.

Revelation Chapter 5 Verses 13 - 14

 Free will, perhaps for the first time in all creation, on a universal level,

was just overridden. What do I mean by that? Every creature? Even

those who have no desire? Even Satan himself… Philippians 2:9-11,

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name

which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee

should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those

under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus

Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

 This is that moment. The declaration of the victory of Jesus. The

revelation of the deity of Jesus Christ, God Himself, Emanuel, that

God so loved the world that He did what He did! Laid down His life

for you and for me. He loved us to death! This scene, the fulfillment

of Philippians Chapter 2, discloses, publishes, broadcasts, proves,

states, promulgates, trumpets…that Jesus is Lord. How?

 Isaiah 42:8. God declares, “I am the LORD. This is My name! I will

not share My glory, nor share My praise!” Yet here we see God

praised, and God receive glory…but John says the song had another

line…, “…and to the Lamb.”

 Did God change? Nope. So, what does that mean? Indeed, God the

Father, God the Son…One! Glory is not being shared. Praise is not

being shared. It is being offered to the One True God who exists in

three distinct Persons! And every knee is bowed and every tongue

confesses…every one of them!

 You know what’s happened in this chapter? A lot, I know. But notice,

in this chapter, weeping has turned into praise. Sorrow has grown

into joy. Why? It went from without Jesus hopeless and defeated, to

the coming of Jesus and a declaration of joy, victory and worship. Do

you know yet that that is exactly what the Lord has for you?
