What To Do With The Tongue

Jan 19, 2025    Guest Teacher - Brian Lambert

- [James 3:1 NKJV] 1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

[James 3:2] For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

[James 3:3-5] 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

[James 3:6] 6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

[James 3:7, 8] 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. [It is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

[James 3:9-12] 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh [water] and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

[John 14:9 NKJV] 9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

[Matthew 5:16 NKJV] 16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven".

Audible based on time:

[John 4:28-30, 39] 28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" 30 Then they went out of the city and came to Him.

[John 4: 39] 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me all that I [ever] did."

[John 4:41-42] 41 And many more believed because of His own word. 42 Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard [Him] and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

God bless you all, thank you for serving and helping me with this.

In Christ,

Brian
