Beware the Enemys Blessings

What did you bring today? A coffee cup? A phone? A purse? A Bible? Do me a favor, hold it up. Is it heavy? Not really, right? But what if you held it like that for an hour? What would your arm feel like if you held it like that all day…weeks, months, years? Things happen to us and in our lives. We do things, make mistakes, and we carry hurt, sometimes guilt, sometimes shame. And taking it up, maintaining…initially, not heavy…but over time, even the smallest of mistakes, not given to the grace of God (dealt with), can really paralyze us, hurt us, affect us, and we may not even know what’s causing us so much grief.

I want to give you a few things today that can and does truly hinder and hurt the body of Christ. Two things that the enemy doesn’t want you to be aware of that I think really are the two biggest issues we face today in the church. These two things cause folks to not live in and unto Jesus, in the absolute freedom and joy of the Lord, which is the most effective evangelistic weapon to save souls!

I mean, THE issue in the church, (and in the lives of Christians for that matter), is that Jesus isn’t the King of your life. That is THE single issue that would change absolutely everything if that changed today. Why’d I, you, they fall into that sin? Because Jesus, for that day, moment, season, wasn’t King. Why haven’t they forgiven them, squashed that issue, dealt with that hurt? Why is love not leading? Because Jesus isn’t King. Fix that, fix everything else!

It’s like all of a sudden, just imagine, you lose your sight. Can’t walk, can’t drive, can’t work, can’t see! What happened? You lost your sight! Such is a believer that stops living by faith… So, that’s THE issue no doubt but diving a bit deeper to a few specifics this morning…

The first or two major issues for this morning is folks not taking hold and accepting the grace of God. God’s grace is for you, a complete and wonderful gift, and critical for a Christian to live unto God. It’s the only reason for the cross. If you don’t walk in the grace of God then you don’t walk in the victory of the cross.

At the cross, sin was dealt with. All sin. Even the worst of your sin. Even the worst of the sin that has been done to you. Dealt with. Forgiven. And you and I are to recognize, receive, repent, and move forward. John 8:36 says, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” God’s grace says you’re forgiven, you’re loved unconditionally, and because of Jesus there is no reason for shame, hiding, or any sort or kind of self-condemnation.

Can I just make one more statement here before we move to what we will spend the majority of our time on this morning? You cannot heal in the same environment that hurt you. It’s just not possible. That may mean 10 different things to 10 different people… but here is why you and I have to deal with things and not just suppress and press on… because that never changes the environment that caused the hurt in the first place. This arrow is bi-directional…because you need to seek change for yourself but anyone here ever hurt someone else? They won’t heal until you change. Sit comfortably in your chair and disagree with me but you’re wrong. You are your brother’s keeper…don’t expect someone you’ve hurt to heal unless you are deliberate, obvious and explicit that you’ve changed whatever element of the harmful environment you’re responsible for….

The second greatest of threats is that the Body of Christ is made up of a bunch of sheep. And sheep are dumb. HA. Not you, me too! And we have a real issue with discernment. I’ve been pastoring now for almost 15 years, 12 as senior pastor at Calvary Cherry Creek, and what I’ve found is that folks need to be loved and no one on this plant is loved enough.

Interesting, one of the characteristics of God’s endless mercy and grace for us is that He looks on me with pity in His heart because He knows I am His son and I am not loved enough, and neither are you. And the enemy capitalizes on that through (sophisticated/tailored/customized) temptation. Folks get tempted to sin because of need, want, desire, something missing…or seemingly something missing… James 4 explains that to us… and so the back end of the equation is letting things go through the grace of God and dealing with hurts. Recognize, receive, repent and move on…but the front end of that shame, that guilt, whatever you carried in today, lets address that too and get out in front of it so that we sheep aren’t such easy prey …. And that is called discernment.

So, let’s talk today about the blessings of the enemy.

Beware the Blessings of the Enemy! Is the devil in the Blessings Business? Absolutely. And partly the issue is that we’ve missed a key element of godliness, contentment, satisfaction, happiness, joy….love…a key element is suffering. Sounds crazy I know! Counter-intuitive! But just check this out… the very definition of love? 1 Corinthians 13:4, “Love suffers long!” Ok, check this out, the fruit of the Spirit, what does it look like to have God working in and through you? Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, ….kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Is this a news flash for you? Suffering, and a willingness to suffer, is part of God’s plan for YOUR happiness, contentment, satisfaction, joy in life… Accomplishment, purpose, ALL OF IT. What if I told you today that in order to find the love you are looking for and in order to find the joy and manifestations of God in your heart, mind and life that you are looking for, you should be looking for suffering!? How many would buy into that? But, newsflash, that’s TRUE!

The enemy wants to use suffering to cause you to fail but God can use suffering and does to cause you to find everything He has planned for you!!

His mother was 40 years old when Jesse was born. Jesse grew up in a very rough home in Morgantown, West Virginia. Jesse’s father, who was mentally ill, was a violent man and was abusive to Jesse. At 13, his father died leaving his mother to take care of him and his brothers. At the time, things weren’t easy for Jesse and he didn’t think life held much hope for him. While Jesse had his struggles, he had dreams too. He wanted to be a ventriloquist and he found books on ventriloquism.

He practiced with sock puppets and saved his money until he could get a real ventriloquist dummy. When he was old enough, he joined the military. The military recognized his talents and placed him in the entertainment corp. He toured the Western Pacific Islands as a comedian as part of a G.I. variety show called “Stars and Gripes.” It was there he was able to share his talents with fellow soldiers. In 1946, he discharged with rank of Technician Grade 5, which was equivalent then of a Corporal. During his military service, Jesse was awarded the WW2 Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with 4 bronze service stars), Army Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge (with an M1 Carbine), and Honorable Service lapel pin.

Through his military service, Jesse gained confidence and found he had a talent for making people laugh. In spite of his early struggles, Jesse became one of the best-loved characters of all time. For it was Jesse Don Knotts who brought us Barney Fife! Just one example of suffering, hardship and struggle that perhaps a life of comfort and health, wealth and prosperity would have ruined… So, we need discernment because the devil is MOST CERTAINLY in the blessing business!!

Don’t get tripped up on the term blessing…this one, (the one from the enemy), seems like a blessing but at some point, the whole thing takes a turn and your prayers go from God, please do this, to, God, please get me out of this! Maybe you told a friend, family member or spouse about the thing, the blessing and their reaction wasn’t one of celebration, joy or encouragement so you chalked it up to jealousy or envy…, “such haters?” That ever happen to you?

There are a few examples in the Bible of these blessings… Eve and original sin, David and Bathsheba, (I’ll probably leave that one alone), Lot and Sodom and the ultimate and most alarming example given by Jesus Himself in Matthew 7.

A major problem for the Christian today is how difficult discernment has become. In the midst of a have-anything-you-want culture, a me-centered society, name-it-claim-it, word of faith movements, how do you know, or do you even care to know if something, even something seemingly good, is from the Lord or something the enemy is bringing into your life. I look at the shame that I carry today, the regret, and I carry it unto testimony of the grace of God, not unto condemnation as many Christians do, but every bit of it started with something that at the time, I really wanted, it was really good… So how can I discern better.

Here's why you care…all the enemy wants to do is hurt you. And he is patient. And he knows you, your likes, your needs, he knows you’re not loved enough and he exploits all of that to hurt you. And if he can, hurt you for the rest of your life… He is the father of lies, which means he wants to fill your life with little lie offspring…and the danger of a lie is that it is believable. So, God’s grace is the key to those shackles, the shackles of the past, but discernment is the key to avoid the prison all together… But don’t forget, if it’s not from the Lord, the intent is to hurt you. And if it takes blessing you with money, power, respect, success, a relationship, even a spouse, even a successful ministry…, he’ll do it.

Let me show you one example. There are many MANY in the Bible but for the sake of time let’s just look at one. Genesis 13:1-12. Lot lifted his eyes and saw how amazing the land looked…but he didn’t lift his eyes far enough, certainly not unto the Lord to ask His opinion on the matter. This is a solid Biblical example of a discernment issue on the part of righteous Lot (as Peter calls him in 2 Peter), and you probably know the story. Lot lost everything. Even his wife got all salty with him. Why? The blessing of the enemy…

Here’s how it happens. Check out Genesis 3:1, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman…” First step is to get you alone. Not so much physically but mentally, personally. Something going on with you, in you, between you and you and closes you off to correction, humbling, counsel, teaching, prayer … first step in breaking down discernment.

Genesis 3:1, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?’” Second step is to drift into the thought that God is holding out on you in some way. That you don’t have what you should have or could have and so God MUST not be taking great care of you. You may not think those exact words or thoughts but that is the drift. Trusting God, obeying the Lord, knowing He has your best interest in mind…pauses.

Genesis 3:2, “And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which in in the midst of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat it, not shall you touch it, lest you die.” Third stop on this hellish highway, the enemy directs your attention to the one thing you cannot have. The enemy never references the trees that Eve could eat from, which was all of the other ones! He only wants to talk about the one she was commanded not to eat from.

Listen, you have got to hear this! God’s no’s are so that we can enjoy His yes’. If you don’t heed the no’s then you forfeit the blessings of His yes’! Did you know that!? By eating from that one tree, they forfeit the freedom to eat from all the other trees, and especially the Tree of Life. And that’s the trap. That’s the tradeoff…not only the shame of the sin but the regret and remorse of missing the true blessing!

See, here’s the thing, the Lord wants you to find Him, the enemy wants you to miss him. So, he gets crafty and he uses slick strategy and this is why we must be discerning. The story and scene end with, “So the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise (poor discernment, she was already wise in believing God), she took of its fruit and ate and also gave to her husband and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened…the eyes of shame, regret, guilt…and they hid themselves.”

Ultimately beware the blessing of the enemy because it causes and offers and tempts and deceives by offering independence from God. The more grown and mature you are as a Christian, the less independent you are from God. Did you know that? Totally opposite than the world. When Madison, my daughter, was little, 2, 3, 4 years old, she would creep into our room and get into our bed at night. Now, as she has grown up, that would be a problem if she did that. HA! She has her own bed, many of your kids have now their own house, and that is good and right. But as Christian grows up in wisdom, maturity and discernment…., dependance upon God is to grow…

Ok, lets switch from the why and what to the how. How can I walk in discernment? Well, spiritually, grow and be growing, have some life in your faith. When something stops growing, its dead. So, commit to your church, serve here, read your Bibles, guard against the blessings of the enemy by seeking the Lord, much unlike Lot…and I’d like to introduce you to what I call decision gates to help in the discerning process.

With whatever comes your way, a seeming blessing, making you feel good, be all happy in the moment just thinking about it…walk through these gates. First, what does this thing or opportunity do to my walk with the Lord if I go after it? If it hurts my walk or relationship with God, red light…stop. The answer is no. It’s the famer’s punch, the risk of Lot. Bathsheba on the roof. It’s going to hurt you. The answer is no. This is discernment. If it supports my walk with the Lord, go to gate 2.

If you are married, what does this thing or opportunity do to my relationship with my spouse? If it hurts it in any way, sets me back in any way, red light…stop. The answer is no. If it supports my relationship with my spouse…go to gate 3.

If I have kiddos, what does this thing or opportunity do to my relationship with my children? If it hurts it in any way, sets me back in any way, red light…stop. The answer is no. If it supports my relationship with my children…go to gate 4.

What does this thing or opportunity do to my ministry unto God. If it hurts it in any way, sets me back in any way, red light…stop. The answer is no. If it supports my ministry unto the Lord or the calling upon my life…go to gate 5.

Finally, what does this thing or opportunity do to my life fiscally, my ability to provide for myself and my family. If it hurts it in any way, sets me back in any way, yellow light…perhaps wait on the Lord. The answer may not be no but it also certainly isn’t a fast yes. If all gates are green, go. Just an easy method I’ve used and shared over the years to keep you out of the blessings of the enemy and in the blessings of God.

Finally, Jesus gave the ultimate of examples, ultimate of risks and hurt, of zero discernment in Matthew 7:21-23. What on earth is going on here? Blessed with incredible ministry, incredible testimony of the power even of Jesus, and yet the minister is lost. How? Because ultimately God is not after what you do for Him or how much you believe in the name of Jesus. Ultimately the only thing that matters is that in your heart of hearts you know the Lord and have given your life to Him.

Christian, how can you discern that one? Your very nature has changed. From dark to light, from condemnation to love, you have shifted from death to life in your heart of hearts. Is that true of you? The enemy is just fine hurting you and ruining your life but he’d much rather send you to hell if he can dupe you into it… So, have you given your life to Jesus Christ?

And Christian, what did you bring in today? What have you been holding for day after day, year after year that has become so increasingly heavy? Can you just set it down today? Receive the grace of God, walk in discernment and live unto the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ! You’re going to fail. Michael Jordan got cut from his high school team before he ever because the greatest NBA player of all time. Suffering is a part of the process. And someone once said, if you don’t look for it, it looks for you….

Recognize, receive, repent, move on! Our lives are too short and the price Jesus paid was too high for me to be lugging around the sins of my past… If the Son has set me free, be free then… So, yea, I’ve failed, but Jesus didn’t and since I’m on His team, well I guess that means I’m winning too!



¿Qué trajiste hoy? ¿Una taza de café? ¿Un teléfono? ¿Un bolso? ¿Una Biblia? Hazme un favor, espera. ¿Es pesado? En realidad no, ¿verdad? Pero, ¿y si lo mantuvieras así durante una hora? ¿Cómo se sentiría tu brazo si lo sostuvieras así todo el día ... ¿Semanas, meses, años? Las cosas nos suceden a nosotros y en nuestras vidas. Hacemos cosas, cometemos errores y cargamos con dolor, a veces culpa, a veces vergüenza. Y tomarlo, mantener... Inicialmente, no pesado ... pero con el tiempo, incluso el más pequeño de los errores, no dado a la gracia de Dios (tratado), realmente puede paralizarnos, lastimarnos, afectarnos, y es posible que ni siquiera sepamos qué nos está causando tanto dolor.
Quiero darles algunas cosas hoy que pueden y realmente obstaculizan y lastiman el cuerpo de Cristo. Dos cosas de las que el enemigo no quiere que seas consciente de que creo que realmente son los dos problemas más grandes que enfrentamos hoy en la iglesia. ¡Estas dos cosas hacen que la gente no viva en y para Jesús, en la absoluta libertad y gozo del Señor, que es el arma evangelística más efectiva para salvar almas!
Quiero decir, EL problema en la iglesia, (y en las vidas de los cristianos para el caso), es que Jesús no es el Rey de tu vida. Ese es EL único problema que cambiaría absolutamente todo si eso cambiara hoy. ¿Por qué yo, tú, caemos en ese pecado? Porque Jesús, ese día, ese momento, temporada, no era Rey. ¿Por qué no los han perdonado, o no han aplastado ese problema, lidiado con ese dolor? ¿Por qué el amor no conduce? Porque Jesús no es Rey. ¡Arregla eso, arregla todo lo demás!
Es como si de repente, imagínate, perdieras la vista. ¡No puedo caminar, no puedo conducir, no puedo trabajar, no puedo ver! ¿¿Qué pasó?? ¡Perdiste la vista! Tal es un creyente que deja de vivir por fe... Entonces, ese es EL problema, sin duda, pero profundizando un poco más en algunos detalles esta mañana ...
El primero o dos problemas importantes para esta mañana es que la gente no se apodera y acepta la gracia de Dios. La gracia de Dios es para ti, un regalo completo y maravilloso, y crítico para que un cristiano viva para Dios. Es el único
Razón de la cruz. Si no caminas en la gracia de Dios , entonces no caminas en la victoria de la cruz.
En la cruz, el pecado fue tratado. Todo pecado. Incluso lo peor de tu pecado. Incluso lo peor del pecado que se te ha hecho. Tratado. Perdonado. Y tú y yo debemos reconocer, recibir, arrepentirnos y seguir adelante. Juan 8:36 dice: "Por tanto, si el Hijo os hace libres, seréis verdaderamente libres". La gracia de Dios dice que eres perdonado, que eres amado incondicionalmente, y debido a Jesús no hay razón para la vergüenza, el escondite o cualquier tipo o tipo de autocondena.
¿Puedo hacer una declaración más aquí antes de pasar a lo que pasaremos la mayor parte de nuestro tiempo esta mañana? No puedes sanar en el mismo ambiente que te lastimó. Simplemente no es posible. Eso puede significar 10 cosas diferentes para 10 personas diferentes ... pero aquí es por qué tú y yo tenemos que lidiar con las cosas y no solo reprimir y seguir adelante ... Porque eso nunca cambia el entorno que causó el daño en primer lugar. Esta flecha es bidireccional... ¿Porque necesitas buscar un cambio para ti mismo , pero alguien aquí alguna vez lastimó a alguien más? No sanarán hasta que cambies. Siéntate cómodamente en tu silla y no estés de acuerdo conmigo, pero estás equivocado. Eres el guardián de tu hermano ... No esperes que alguien a quien has lastimado sane a menos que seas deliberado, obvio y explícito de que has cambiado cualquier elemento del entorno dañino del que eres responsable.
La segunda mayor de las amenazas es que el Cuerpo de Cristo está formado por un montón de ovejas. Y las ovejas son tontas. Ja. ¡No tú, yo también! Y tenemos un problema real con el discernimiento. He estado pastoreando durante casi 15 años, 12 como pastor principal en Calvary Cherry Creek, y lo que he encontrado es que la gente necesita ser amada y nadie en esta planta es amado lo suficiente.
Interesante, una de las características de la infinita misericordia y gracia de Dios para nosotros es que Él me mira con piedad en Su corazón porque Él sabe que soy Su hijo y no soy amado lo suficiente, y tú tampoco. Y el enemigo
capitaliza eso a través de la tentación (sofisticada / adaptada / personalizada). La gente se siente tentada a pecar debido a la necesidad, el deseo, el deseo, algo que falta ... o aparentemente algo que falta ... Santiago 4 nos explica eso... y así, el final de la ecuación es dejar que las cosas pasen por la gracia de Dios y lidiar con las heridas. Reconoce, recibe, arrepiéntete y sigue adelante... Pero la parte delantera de esa vergüenza, esa culpa, lo que sea que hayas llevado hoy, abordemos eso también y salgamos al frente para que las ovejas no seamos una presa tan fácil ... Y eso se llama discernimiento.
Entonces, hablemos hoy de las bendiciones del enemigo.
¡Cuidado con las bendiciones del enemigo! ¿Está el diablo en el negocio de las bendiciones? Absolutamente. Y en parte el problema es que hemos perdido un elemento clave de piedad, contentamiento, satisfacción, felicidad, gozo ... amor ... Un elemento clave es el sufrimiento. ¡Suena loco, lo sé! ¡Contrario a la intuición! Pero solo echa un vistazo a esto ... ¿La definición misma de amor? 1 Corintios 13:4, "¡El amor sufre mucho!" Ok, mira esto, el fruto del Espíritu, ¿cómo se ve tener a Dios trabajando en y a través de ti? Gálatas 5:22, "Pero el fruto del Espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, ... bondad, bondad, fidelidad, mansedumbre, dominio propio".
¿Es esto un flash de noticias para ti? El sufrimiento, y la voluntad de sufrir, es parte del plan de Dios para TU felicidad, contentamiento, satisfacción, gozo en la vida... Logro, propósito, TODO. ¿Qué pasaría si te dijera hoy que para encontrar el amor que estás buscando y para encontrar la alegría y las manifestaciones de Dios en tu corazón, mente y vida que estás buscando, deberías estar buscando el sufrimiento? ¿Cuántos comprarían eso? Pero, noticia de última hora, ¡eso es CIERTO!
¡El enemigo quiere usar el sufrimiento para hacer que fracases, pero Dios puede usar el sufrimiento y lo hace para que encuentres todo lo que Él ha planeado para ti!
Su madre tenía 40 años cuando Jesse nació. Jesse creció en una casa muy difícil en Morgantown, Virginia Occidental. El padre de Jesse, que estaba mentalmente enfermo, era un hombre violento y abusaba de Jesse. A los 13 años, su padre murió dejando a su madre para cuidar de él y sus hermanos. En ese momento, las cosas no eran fáciles para Jesse y no creía que la vida tuviera muchas esperanzas para él. Mientras Jesse tenía sus luchas, también tenía sueños. Quería ser ventrílocuo y encontró libros sobre ventriloquia.
Practicó con títeres de calcetines y ahorró su dinero hasta que pudo conseguir un muñeco de ventrílocuo real. Cuando tuvo la edad suficiente, se unió al ejército. Los militares reconocieron sus talentos y lo colocaron en el cuerpo de entretenimiento. Recorrió las islas del Pacífico Occidental como comediante como parte de un programa de variedades de GI llamado "Stars and Gripes". Fue allí donde pudo compartir sus talentos con sus compañeros soldados. En 1946, fue dado de baja con el rango de Técnico Grado 5, que era equivalente entonces a un Cabo. Durante su servicio militar, Jesse fue galardonado con la Medalla de la Victoria de la 2ª Guerra Mundial, la Medalla de la Liberación de Filipinas, la Medalla de la Campaña Asia-Pacífico (con 4 estrellas de servicio de bronce), la Medalla de Buena Conducta del Ejército, la Insignia de Tirador (con una carabina M1) y el alfiler de solapa del Servicio Honorable.
A través de su servicio militar, Jesse ganó confianza y descubrió que tenía talento para hacer reír a la gente. A pesar de sus primeras luchas, Jesse se convirtió en uno de los personajes más queridos de todos los tiempos. ¡Porque fue Jesse Don Knotts quien nos trajo a Barney Fife! Solo un ejemplo de sufrimiento, dificultades y lucha que tal vez una vida de comodidad y salud, riqueza y prosperidad habría arruinado ... Por lo tanto, necesitamos discernimiento porque el diablo está CIERTAMENTE en el negocio de la bendición!!
No te tropieces con el término bendición... este, (el del enemigo), parece una bendición, pero en algún momento, todo da un giro y tus oraciones van de Dios, por favor haz esto, a, Dios, ¡por favor sácame de esto! Tal vez le dijiste a un amigo, familiar o cónyuge sobre la cosa, la bendición y su reacción no fue de celebración, alegría o
Así que lo atribuyste a los celos o la envidia ..., "¿Tales enemigos?" ¿Alguna vez te ha pasado eso?
Hay algunos ejemplos en la Biblia de estas bendiciones... Eva y el pecado original, David y Betsabé, (probablemente dejaré eso solo), Lot y Sodoma y el último y más alarmante ejemplo dado por Jesús mismo en Mateo 7.
Un problema importante para el cristiano de hoy es cuán difícil se ha vuelto el discernimiento. En medio de una cultura de tener lo que quieras, una sociedad centrada en mí, los movimientos de palabra de fe, ¿cómo sabes, o incluso te importa saber si algo, incluso algo aparentemente bueno, es del Señor o algo que el enemigo está trayendo a tu vida? Miro la vergüenza que llevo hoy, el arrepentimiento, y lo llevo al testimonio de la gracia de Dios, no a la condenación como lo hacen muchos cristianos, pero cada parte comenzó con algo que en ese momento, realmente quería, era realmente bueno ... Entonces, ¿cómo puedo discernir mejor?
He aquí por qué te importa... Todo lo que el enemigo quiere hacer es lastimarte. Y es paciente. Y él te conoce, tus gustos, tus necesidades, sabe que no eres lo suficientemente amado y explota todo eso para lastimarte. Y si puede, lastimarte por el resto de tu vida... Él es el padre de las mentiras, lo que significa que quiere llenar tu vida con poca descendencia de mentiras ... Y el peligro de una mentira es que es creíble. Entonces, la gracia de Dios es la clave de esos grilletes, los grilletes del pasado, pero el discernimiento es la clave para evitar la prisión por completo. Pero no olvides que, si no es del Señor, la intención es lastimarte. Y si se necesita bendecirte con dinero, poder, respeto, éxito, una relación, incluso un cónyuge, incluso un ministerio exitoso ..., él lo hará.
Permítanme mostrarles un ejemplo. Hay muchos MUCHOS en la Biblia, pero por el bien del tiempo veamos uno. Génesis 13:1-12. Lot levantó los ojos y vio lo increíble que se veía la tierra ... pero no levantó los ojos lo suficiente, ciertamente no al Señor para pedirle su opinión sobre el asunto. Éste
es un sólido ejemplo bíblico de un problema de discernimiento por parte del justo Lot (como Pedro lo llama en 2 Pedro), y probablemente conozcas la historia. Lot lo perdió todo. Incluso su esposa se puso salada con él. ¿Por qué? La bendición del enemigo ...
Así es como sucede. Echa un vistazo a Génesis 3:1, "Y la serpiente era más astuta que cualquier bestia del campo que el Señor Dios había hecho. Y le dijo a la mujer..." El primer paso es dejarte solo. No tanto físicamente, sino mentalmente, personalmente. Algo sucede contigo, en ti, entre tú y tú y te cierra a la corrección, la humildad, el consejo, la enseñanza, la oración... Primer paso para romper el discernimiento.
Génesis 3:1, "¿Ha dicho Dios verdaderamente: No comerás de todo árbol del jardín?" El segundo paso es dejarse llevar por el pensamiento de que Dios te está sosteniendo de alguna manera. Que no tienes lo que deberías o podrías tener y, por lo tanto, Dios NO DEBE estar cuidándote mucho. Puede que no pienses esas palabras o pensamientos exactos, pero esa es la deriva. Confiar en Dios, obedecer al Señor, saber que Él tiene su mejor interés en mente ... Pausas.
Génesis 3:2, "Y la mujer dijo a la serpiente: "De comeremos del fruto de los árboles del jardín; sino del fruto del árbol que en medio del jardín, Dios ha dicho: "No lo comerás, no lo tocarás, no sea que mueras". Tercera parada en esta carretera infernal, el enemigo dirige tu atención a lo único que no puedes tener. El enemigo nunca hace referencia a los árboles de los que Eva podía comer, ¡que eran todos los demás! Solo quiere hablar sobre el que le ordenaron no comer.
¡Escucha, tienes que escuchar esto! Los no de Dios son para que podamos disfrutar de su sí". ¡Si no prestas atención a los noes, entonces pierdes las bendiciones de Su sí! ¿Sabías que? Al comer de ese árbol, pierden la libertad de comer de todos los demás árboles, y especialmente del Árbol de la Vida. Y esa es la trampa. Esa es la compensación... ¡No solo la vergüenza del pecado, sino el arrepentimiento y el remordimiento de perder la verdadera bendición!
Mira, aquí está la cosa, el Señor quiere que lo encuentres, el enemigo quiere que lo extrañes. Por lo tanto, se vuelve astuto y usa una estrategia ingeniosa y es por eso que debemos discernir. La historia y la escena terminan con: "Entonces la mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer, que era agradable a los ojos, y un árbol deseable para hacer sabio (pobre discernimiento, ella ya era sabia en creer en Dios), tomó de su fruto y comió y también se lo dio a su esposo y él comió. Entonces se abrieron los ojos de ambos ... los ojos de la vergüenza, el arrepentimiento, la culpa ... y se escondieron".
En última instancia, ten cuidado con la bendición del enemigo porque causa, ofrece, tienta y engaña al ofrecer independencia de Dios. Cuanto más crecido y maduro eres como cristiano, menos independiente eres de Dios. ¿Sabías que? Totalmente opuesto al mundo. Cuando Madison, mi hija, era pequeña, de 2, 3, 4 años, se metía sigilosamente en nuestra habitación y se metía en nuestra cama por la noche. Ahora, como ella ha crecido, eso sería un problema si lo hiciera. ¡Ja! Ella tiene su propia cama, muchos de sus hijos ahora tienen su propia casa, y eso es bueno y correcto. Pero a medida que el cristiano crece en sabiduría, madurez y discernimiento, la dependencia de Dios va a crecer...
Ok, cambiemos del por qué y el qué al cómo. ¿Cómo puedo caminar en discernimiento? Bueno, espiritualmente, crece y crece, ten algo de vida en tu fe. Cuando algo deja de crecer, está muerto. Así que, comprométase con su iglesia, sirva aquí, lea sus Biblias, protéjase de las bendiciones del enemigo buscando al Señor, muy diferente a Lot ... y me gustaría presentarles lo que yo llamo puertas de decisión para ayudar en el proceso de discernimiento.
Con lo que se te presente, una aparente bendición, hacerte sentir bien, ser feliz en el momento solo de pensarlo... Camina a través de estas puertas. Primero, ¿qué le hace esta cosa u oportunidad a mi caminar con el Señor si voy tras ella? Si duele mi caminar o mi relación con Dios, la luz roja ... parar. La respuesta es no. Es el golpe del agricultor, el riesgo de Lot.
Betsabé en el techo. Te va a doler. La respuesta es no. Esto es discernimiento. Si apoya mi caminar con el Señor, ve a la puerta 2.
Si está casado, ¿qué le hace esto u oportunidad a mi relación con mi cónyuge? Si lo lastima de alguna manera, me retrasa de alguna manera, luz roja ... parar. La respuesta es no. Si apoya mi relación con mi cónyuge ... Vaya a la puerta 3.
Si tengo hijos, ¿qué le hace esto u oportunidad a mi relación con mis hijos? Si lo lastima de alguna manera, me retrasa de alguna manera, luz roja ... parar. La respuesta es no. Si apoya mi relación con mis hijos... Vaya a la puerta 4.
¿Qué le hace esta cosa u oportunidad a mi ministerio a Dios? Si lo lastima de alguna manera, me retrasa de alguna manera, luz roja ... parar. La respuesta es no. Si apoya mi ministerio al Señor o el llamado a mi vida... Vaya a la puerta 5.
Finalmente, ¿qué le hace esta cosa u oportunidad a mi vida fiscalmente, mi capacidad para mantenerme a mí y a mi familia? Si lo duele de alguna manera, me hace retroceder de alguna manera, luz amarilla ... tal vez esperar en el Señor. La respuesta puede no ser no, pero tampoco es un sí rápido. Si todas las puertas son verdes, vete. Solo un método fácil que he usado y compartido a lo largo de los años para mantenerte alejado de las bendiciones del enemigo y de las bendiciones de Dios.
Finalmente, Jesús dio el último de los ejemplos, el último de los riesgos y el dolor, de cero discernimiento en Mateo 7: 21-23. ¿Qué diablos está pasando aquí? Bendecido con un ministerio increíble, un testimonio increíble del poder incluso de Jesús, y sin embargo, el ministro está perdido. ¿Cómo? Porque en última instancia, Dios no está detrás de lo que haces por Él o cuánto crees en el nombre de Jesús. En última instancia, lo único que importa es que en lo más profundo de tu corazón conozcas al Señor y le hayas entregado tu vida.
Cristiano, ¿cómo puedes discernir eso? Tu propia naturaleza ha cambiado. De la oscuridad a la luz, de la condenación al amor, han pasado de la muerte a la vida en lo más profundo de sus corazones. ¿Es eso cierto para ti? El enemigo está bien lastimándote y arruinando tu vida , pero preferiría enviarte al infierno si puede engañarte en él ... Entonces, ¿le has dado tu vida a Jesucristo?
Y Christian, ¿qué trajiste hoy? ¿Qué has estado sosteniendo día tras día, año tras año que se ha vuelto cada vez más pesado? ¿Puedes dejarlo hoy? ¡Recibe la gracia de Dios, camina en discernimiento y vive para el poder de la cruz y la resurrección de Jesucristo! Vas a fracasar. Michael Jordan fue cortado de su equipo de la escuela secundaria antes de convertirse en el mejor jugador de la NBA de todos los tiempos. El sufrimiento es parte del proceso. Y alguien dijo una vez, si no lo buscas, te busca a ti...
¡Reconoce, recibe, arrepiéntete, sigue adelante! Nuestras vidas son demasiado cortas y el precio que Jesús pagó fue demasiado alto para que yo estuviera cargando los pecados de mi pasado... Si el Hijo me ha liberado, sé libre entonces... Así que, sí, he fallado, pero Jesús no lo hizo y ya que estoy en Su equipo, bueno, ¡supongo que eso significa que yo también estoy ganando!
