Revelation 17 vs 4-18

All the enemy ever had to get man to do was serve himself. And in so doing he would rob mankind of our most primary gift…life. Not physical life, but life alive. I’m sure many of you have lived many days that you actually didn’t live…you just survived. Never God’s want or plan for you. Genesis 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.”

Define life. If we define it by its origination (which would be correct), Adam didn’t just come alive in the body but he woke up into a life that was in relationship and communication with God. Walking with the Lord and serving the Lord’s purpose and plan. That is the definition of life. Hidden there are all the things that God has for you and for me. Love, joy, enthusiasm, gladness of life, purpose, fulfillment…and all the enemy has to do to rob you of those things is break your relationship with God. Serve self over serving the Lord.

When Adam served himself over God, he lost His life. And he hid from God… And that day, God came looking for him and we read in Genesis 3:9 God said to Adam, “Where are you?” In the Hebrew, that is only one word, two letters…, “Where?” Adam lost himself, God lost Adam, Adam lost the Lord, Adam lost his life… and all the enemy had to do was trick and convince Adam to serve himself.

The essence of this evil is what the Bible refers to as the great harlot. The spirit of the LOSS launched in the Garden of peace by Adam. The spirit of self-service that was accentuated in Babylon as the people, in one voice, declared “We will rule ourselves! We will be our own gods!” And as we have seen through our previous studies, this is the great harlot that all of the nations, all of the kings, all of the inhabitants of the earth joined themselves together with and ultimately has caused their downfall.

Babylon…the Biblical symbol of confusion. It was there that God confused the tongues of men…so that they would break apart and go their separate ways…and really, sin is confusion. Jesus said it best, “Beware false prophets,” (to be a prophet you must rep a god…so if the prophet is false, who is the god? A false god, the great harlot, worship of self which really and simply boils down to the serving of Lucifer), “Beware false prophets who come looking like sheep but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”

Sin confuses and kills…why? Because it seems legit. It seems as harmless as a sheep. Sin often times feels reasonable and rational and by the way the undertow of our flesh is constantly driving us to get ours, look out for #1, don’t love them, love you…don’t bow down to God, you be god…and as circumstances unfold and situations transpire, we naturally hunt and gather…we eliminate threats, gather for ourselves and whatever doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger, right? Wrong! Tell that to the mother that hasn’t seen her kids for 6 months because she succumbed to the seduction of his coworker!

Tell that to the suicidal sixteen year old who is about to be a mother because she thought she knew better than her parents in who she should be dating! Tell that to the parents who just lost their child to an overdose because they were too wrapped up in their career to notice their teenagers’ bloodshot eyes and darkened demeanor! That which does not kill you only makes you stronger is a lie! Please! That just means that the great harlot is killing you cut by cut man…and you’re confused… That which you trust God with and within, that is what makes you stronger!

Following after your feelings your rationality your conclusive critical contemplation will lead right back to the tower that was built thousands of years ago by Nimrod and his squad in Babylon as you set yourself firmly upon the throne of your own heart…a throne that was never meant for you but a throne which the great harlot offers to you and to everyone…but the cost…you share in her fate, you lose your life. And we are about to see her fall…

Now, walk by faith…follow after the Father of all creation and eternity in faith and guess what, your decisions and actions and conclusions based on the truth of His Word and the unnatural wisdom of the Holy Spirit and you will be led to share in His fate, God’s fate, Jesus’ fate…Whomever you follow is whomever’s destination you will share in. Yes there will be betrayal as He was betrayed…people will mock and disapprove but man let them! They’re heading to a fall! Why care for their approval anyway! And then the cross will come as daily you have to power up and take up your own cross…serving and loving and bearing with folks….man that is true strength…but then don’t forget the story is not complete there…then comes the resurrection…and the ascension…life eternal…

Your choice…fall or flourish! Join yourself to the great and powerful God Almighty or join yourself to the great harlot. God said that He would not bear with watching His creation fall forever…that He would make a short work upon the earth and God Himself is fed up with person after person, child after child being taken from Him and falling…and so here in Chapter 17…the consequence of sin has come upon the world with chaos and calamity, the consequence of sin has come upon mankind with all sorts of grievous conditions and here we see sin itself, the fallen, the great harlot, the very essence of false worship is being done away with finally…

Chapter 17 we’ll see the religious aspect, the spiritual side of this idol destroyed and then in Chapter 18 we’ll see the political, the physical side destroyed…what it boils down to is that we will see her destroyed entirely and eternally as God sets the scene for all things to be made purely new, without evil, without sin and without death…

Revelation Chapter 17 Verse 4
•Where’d she get all that? All those garments and garnishments of royalty? Where did sin and false worship and rebellion and me-mentality (all the same things), where did she get all of that? From people!!! Payment for her services. It’s so incredibly interesting how sin promises to pay but ends up costing you so much (you pay)! This is payment…
•Note her adornment, these are all worldly and temporary…she is adorned with the treasures of this world which are the gravel of the world to come…the treasures of the world to come are love…peace…joy…gentleness, kindness, pure and undefiled worship, not these trinkets, not these elements that are only temporary…and the golden cup that she carries is filled with abominations, and acts of worship…the anti-prayer. Serving yourself is the opposite of prayer!
Revelation Chapter 17 Verse 5
•Two cities dominate the scriptures. One is Jerusalem of course. The city of God. Founded by God. The capital of Israel, literally the people that are governed by God. The other city is Babylon. Mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. The city of revolt. Founded by Nimrod whose name literally means, “one who rebels.”
•You see this is the Book of Revelation. Here it is revealed what is the evil even behind Babylon…even behind revolt, rebellion, false worship, confusion…it’s the harlot and she represents this spirit that has been at work in the hearts of men since the fall…the spirit of serving yourself and in so doing…selling yourself…this is the abomination of the earth!
Revelation Chapter 17 Verse 6
•Teaching in the synagogue in Jerusalem on the Sabbath, Jesus raised His head and Mark writes for us in Mark 6:6 that Jesus marveled at their unbelief. I bring that up because I don’t want you to think John is admiring this beast and this evil that rides upon him. Jesus didn’t admire the unbelief of the people, He mourned over it…to the point that He had to take a step back and say, “What is the problem? I don’t get it…these folks are lost, blind, weak and weary and yet they harden themselves…” and so He marveled. Great grief came upon Him and He departed…
•Here something clicks. John, filled with the Holy Spirit for 50 or 60 years by this time has seen great evil, great cruelty, great stupidity as folks have chosen to rebel against God, harden their hearts in refusal to humble themselves and choose Jesus and He has watched people be destroyed because of it…and now it has been revealed…this evil that has been at work the whole time…pride, rebellion, selfishness,…and he wonders in amazement that the whole time…every circumstance was spiritual…every argument he witnessed, every child he saw dirty and hungry, every single parent, every abandoned husband, every boasting religious elite…all the same…all spiritual…
•I’ll give you an example. The persecution of the Jew. Physical or spiritual? Well Hitler was physical and so was Antiochus Epiphanes. As was Nero. But let me point something out to you. The Chinese people began at the same time as the Jew. There are over a billion Chinese on the planet today. How many Jews are on the planet today? 15 million. Why? Because the hatred of the Jew is spiritual. Manifested in physical violence and physical people and physical circumstance but the wind in the sails, pure spiritual hatred. Why? Because if Satan can get rid of the Jew, no Messiah…
•And so, your issues at home. Your issues at work. Your issues at church. Your issues with your parents, with your children…physical or spiritual? Take a second look if you think they are physical. They are not. The worship of self is pervading, isn’t it? Something clicks here with John…and the angel sees that he gets it…sees that he sees…and so what’s next? What’s always next when truth is revealed and you face it…more revelation!!
Revelation Chapter 17 Verses 7 - 8
•Notice before she “rode” the beast and now he “carries” her…same with your sin…lest you turn from it…
•The full gamut of the beast revealed. He came on the scene. Was mortally wounded. Was seemingly resurrected which will deceive the nations into thinking and believing that he is indeed god, who he claims to be, and yet his final destination is perdition or the Lake of Fire…
Revelation Chapter 17 Verse 9
•Only one city in history is known as the “City of Seven Mountains,” Rome. However this could also speak of the entire earth. Seven being the number of completion and mountains being a type of earth. Both perspectives are supported by Biblical prophecy and are inclusive of each other.
Revelation Chapter 17 Verses 10 - 14
•There are all types of ideas of these seven kings. Some say this is speaking of world empires. Others say that this speaks of the original emperors of Rome… Whomever the seven are, the leader is the beast and he will overcome them, have all of their power, but it will only be a short while and the Lord will prevail!
Revelation Chapter 17 Verses 15 – 18
•This is interesting that the ten nations, represented by the ten horns which are the beast that she rides and then is carried by, the Great Harlot, the spirit of false worship, the fallen, she is united with the beast and then ten nations and yet the angel says to John here that they will hate her and make her desolate. The word in the Greek is, “miseo,” where we get out world miserable. I said last week, even when sin gives you everything it promised, you won’t be happy. Another way to say unhappy…discontent…or miserable.
•Here I believe we are seeing the nature and reward of sin and how at its very core, it’s hollow and just so sad. Sin makes you sad. Don’t forget that. Maybe not in the moment…in the moment, hey, pleasure…but to your life and who you are in your heart of hearts, it creates desolation, nakedness (which means strengthlessness), eats you up inside and burns you out. This is why God hates it so much and wants so much for me to be free of it (that’s why He sent Jesus and His Holy Spirit) and ultimately wants me to stay away from it today…to walk in wisdom.
•The world and the people of the world are completely given over to sin. The fallen is out in the open and ruling and reigning…and the people are yet discontent and even hate what things have become. Why? Because sinner or saint, we are all fearfully and wonderfully made, created in the image of God with one purpose and that is to know and walk with the Lord. Anything other than that…joy may last for the night, but sorrow comes in the morning.
•God’s purpose for all of us, that which was usurped and stolen by the fallen…is so very simple. To know Him and to walk with Him. Nothing else will do. And anything else, anything else, well…you don’t even need God’s judgement, sin will turn upon itself and rot you and your life from the inside out. God has SUCH a better plan for you and for me. Take the sorrow of the night…trust God and go His path…for the joy will come in the morning…
•Here, spiritual Babylon is fallen, next time we’ll see the physical city fall…and that is the pattern of those who harden their hearts…they first fall spiritually and settle for a long-distance relationship with Jesus…then their city falls…and then its game over man…



Todo lo que el enemigo tenía que conseguir que el hombre hiciera era servirse a sí mismo. Y al hacerlo, robaría a la humanidad nuestro don más primordial... la vida. No vida física, sino vida viva. Estoy seguro de que muchos de ustedes han vivido muchos días en los que en realidad no vivieron… simplemente sobrevivieron. Nunca el deseo o plan de Dios para ti. Génesis 2: 7, “Y el Señor Dios formó al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y sopló en su nariz aliento de vida, y el hombre se convirtió en un ser viviente”.

Define la vida. Si lo definimos por su origen (lo cual sería correcto), Adán no solo cobró vida en el cuerpo, sino que despertó a una vida que estaba en relación y comunicación con Dios. Caminando con el Señor y sirviendo al propósito y plan del Señor. Esa es la definición de vida. Escondidas están todas las cosas que Dios tiene para ti y para mí. Amor, gozo, entusiasmo, alegría de vivir, propósito, realización… y todo lo que el enemigo tiene que hacer para robarte esas cosas es romper tu relación con Dios. Sírvase a sí mismo en lugar de servir al Señor.

Cuando Adán se sirvió a sí mismo por encima de Dios, perdió la vida. Y se escondió de Dios... Y ese día, Dios vino a buscarlo y leemos en Génesis 3: 9 Dios le dijo a Adán: "¿Dónde estás?" En hebreo, eso es solo una palabra, dos letras... , "¿Dónde?" Adán se perdió a sí mismo, Dios perdió a Adán, Adán perdió al Señor, Adán perdió su vida… y todo lo que el enemigo tenía que hacer era engañar y convencer a Adán de que se sirviera a sí mismo.

La esencia de este mal es lo que la Biblia llama la gran ramera. El espíritu de la PERDIDA lanzado en el Jardín de la paz por Adán. El espíritu de autoservicio que se acentuó en Babilonia cuando el pueblo, con una sola voz, declaró: “¡Nos gobernaremos a nosotros mismos! ¡Seremos nuestros propios dioses! " Y como hemos visto a través de nuestros estudios anteriores, esta es la gran ramera con la que todas las naciones, todos los reyes, todos los habitantes de la tierra se unieron y finalmente ha causado su caída.

Babilonia... el símbolo bíblico de confusión. Fue allí donde Dios confundió las lenguas de los hombres... para que se separaran y siguieran caminos separados... y realmente, el pecado es confusión. Jesús lo dijo mejor: “Cuidado con los falsos profetas” (para ser un profeta que debe representar a un dios... por lo que si el profeta es falso, que es el dios? Un dios falso, la gran ramera, la adoración de sí mismo que hierve realmente y simplemente hasta el servicio de Lucifer), "Cuidado con los falsos profetas que vienen como ovejas pero por dentro son lobos rapaces".

El pecado confunde y mata... ¿por qué? Porque parece legítimo. Parece tan inofensivo como una oveja. El pecado a menudo se siente razonable y racional y, por cierto, la resaca de nuestra carne nos impulsa constantemente a conseguir la nuestra, busca el número 1, no los ames, te amo... no te inclines ante Dios, sé Dios. ... y a medida que las circunstancias se desarrollan y las situaciones suceden, naturalmente cazamos y recolectamos... eliminamos amenazas, recolectamos para nosotros y lo que no me mata solo me hace más fuerte, ¿ verdad ? ¡Incorrecto! ¡Dile eso a la madre que no ha visto a sus hijos desde hace 6 meses porque sucumbió a la seducción de su compañero de trabajo!

¡Dile eso a la suicida de dieciséis años que está a punto de ser madre porque pensó que sabía mejor que sus padres con quién debería estar saliendo! ¡Dígale eso a los padres que acaban de perder a su hijo por una sobredosis porque estaban demasiado absortos en su carrera como para notar los ojos inyectados en sangre y el comportamiento oscurecido de sus adolescentes! ¡Lo que no te mata solo te hace más fuerte es mentira! ¡Por favor! Eso solo significa que la gran ramera te está matando cortada a cortada... y estás confundido... ¡ Eso en lo que confías en Dios con y dentro, eso es lo que te hace más fuerte!

Siguiendo tus sentimientos, tu racionalidad, tu contemplación crítica concluyente te llevará de regreso a la torre que fue construida hace miles de años por Nimrod y su escuadrón en Babilonia mientras te colocas firmemente en el trono de tu propio corazón... un trono que nunca fue para ti sino un trono que la gran ramera te ofrece a ti y a todos… pero el costo… compartes su destino, pierdes la vida . Y estamos a punto de verla caer ...

Ahora, camina por fe... sigue al Padre de toda la creación y la eternidad en fe y adivina qué, tus decisiones, acciones y conclusiones basadas en la verdad de Su Palabra y la sabiduría antinatural del Espíritu Santo y serás guiado a compartir Su destino, el destino de Dios, el destino de Jesús... A quien sigas es el destino de quien tú compartirás. Sí, habrá traición, ya que Él fue traicionado ... la gente se burlará y desaprobará, ¡pero el hombre se lo permitirá ! ¡Se dirigen a una caída! ¿Por qué preocuparse por su aprobación de todos modos? Y luego vendrá la cruz, ya que todos los días tienes que encender y tomar tu propia cruz... servir, amar y soportar a la gente ... hombre, esa es la verdadera fuerza... pero luego no olvides que la historia no está completa allí... luego viene la resurrección ... y la ascensión... la vida eterna ...

Tu elección… ¡ caer o florecer! Únase al gran y poderoso Dios Todopoderoso o únase a la gran ramera. Dios dijo que no soportaría ver caer su creación para siempre... que haría un breve trabajo sobre la tierra y que Dios mismo está harto de que persona tras persona, niño tras niño sean arrebatados y cayendo... y así aquí en el capítulo 17... la consecuencia del pecado ha llegado al mundo con caos y calamidad, la consecuencia del pecado ha llegado a la humanidad con todo tipo de condiciones penosas y aquí vemos el pecado mismo, la caída, la gran ramera, la esencia misma de la adoración falsa está siendo eliminado finalmente ...

Capítulo 17 veremos el aspecto religioso, el lado espiritual de este ídolo destruido y luego en el Capítulo 18 veremos el lado político, el lado físico destruido… lo que se reduce a que la veremos destruida total y eternamente como Dios prepara el escenario para que todas las cosas sean puramente nuevas, sin maldad, sin pecado y sin muerte ...

Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículo 4
●¿De dónde sacó todo eso? ¿Todas esas prendas y adornos de la realeza? ¿De dónde salió el pecado, la adoración falsa, la rebelión y la mentalidad de mí mismo (todas las mismas cosas), de dónde sacó todo eso? ¡¡¡De la gente!!! Pago por sus servicios. ¡Es increíblemente interesante cómo el pecado promete pagar, pero termina costándote tanto (tú pagas)! Este es el pago...
●Tenga en cuenta su adorno, estos son todos mundanos y temporales... ella está adornada con los tesoros de este mundo que son la grava del mundo por venir... los tesoros del mundo por venir son el amor... la paz... la alegría... la dulzura, la bondad, pura y adoración sin mancha, no estas baratijas, no estos elementos que son sólo temporales… y la copa de oro que ella lleva está llena de abominaciones y actos de adoración… la anti-oración. ¡Servir a sí mismo es lo opuesto a la oración!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículo 5
●Dos ciudades dominan las escrituras. Uno es Jerusalén, por supuesto. La ciudad de Dios. Fundada por Dios. La capital de Israel, literalmente el pueblo gobernado por Dios. La otra ciudad es Babilonia. Mencionado más de 300 veces en la Biblia. La ciudad de la revuelta. Fundada por Nimrod, cuyo nombre significa literalmente, "uno que se rebela".
●Ves, este es el Libro de Apocalipsis. Aquí se revela cuál es el mal incluso detrás de Babilonia... incluso detrás de la revuelta, la rebelión, la adoración falsa, la confusión... es la ramera y ella representa este espíritu que ha estado obrando en los corazones de los hombres desde la caída... el espíritu de servirte a ti mismo y al hacerlo... venderse a sí mismo... ¡esta es la abominación de la tierra!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículo 6
●Al enseñar en la sinagoga de Jerusalén el sábado, Jesús levantó la cabeza y Marcos nos escribe en Marcos 6: 6 que Jesús se maravilló de su incredulidad. Lo menciono porque no quiero que pienses que John está admirando a esta bestia y este mal que cabalga sobre él. Jesús no admiró la incredulidad de la gente, se lamentó por ello… hasta el punto que tuvo que dar un paso atrás y decir: “¿Cuál es el problema? No lo entiendo… esta gente está perdida, ciega, débil y fatigada y sin embargo se endurecen…” y por eso se maravilló. Le sobrevino un gran dolor y se fue...
●Aquí algo hace ‘clic’. Juan, lleno del Espíritu Santo durante 50 o 60 años para este momento, ha visto una gran maldad, una gran crueldad, una gran estupidez, ya que la gente ha elegido rebelarse contra Dios, endurecer sus corazones al negarse a humillarse y elegir a Jesús y Él ha observado a la gente ser destruido por eso... y ahora ha sido revelado... este mal que ha estado trabajando todo el tiempo... orgullo, rebelión, egoísmo, ... y se pregunta con asombro que todo el tiempo... cada circunstancia fue espiritual... cada argumento que presenció, cada niño que vio sucio y hambriento, cada padre, cada esposo abandonado, cada élite religiosa jactanciosa... de todos modos... todos espirituales ...
●Te daré un ejemplo. La persecución del judío. ¿Físico o espiritual? Bueno, Hitler era físico y también Antíoco Epífanes. Como Nero. Pero déjeme señalarle algo. El pueblo chino comenzó al mismo tiempo que el judío. En la actualidad, hay más de mil millones de chinos en el planeta. ¿Cuántos judíos hay hoy en el planeta? 15 millones. ¿Por qué? Porque el odio al judío es espiritual. Manifestado en violencia física y personas físicas y circunstancias físicas pero el viento en las velas, puro odio espiritual. ¿Por qué? Porque si Satanás puede deshacerse del judío, no el Mesías...
●Y así, tus problemas en casa. Tus problemas en el trabajo. Tus problemas en la iglesia. Tus problemas con tus padres, con tus hijos… ¿físicos o espirituales? Eche un segundo vistazo si cree que son físicos. No son. La adoración a uno mismo es omnipresente, ¿no es así? Algo hace ‘clic’ aquí con John... y el ángel ve que lo entiende... ve que ve... y entonces, ¿qué sigue? ¿Qué sigue siempre cuando la verdad es revelada y tú la enfrentas… más revelación !!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículos 7 - 8
●Fíjate antes de que ella "montara" la bestia y ahora él la "carga" ... lo mismo con tu pecado... para que no te alejes de él...
●Se revela toda la gama de la bestia. Entró en escena. Fue herido de muerte. Aparentemente resucitó, lo que engañará a las naciones haciéndoles pensar y creer que él es realmente dios, quien dice ser, y sin embargo, su destino final es la perdición o el lago de fuego ...


Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículo 9
●Sólo una ciudad en la historia se conoce como la "Ciudad de las Siete Montañas", Roma. Sin embargo, esto también podría hablar de toda la tierra. Siete es el número de terminación y las montañas son un tipo de tierra. Ambas perspectivas están respaldadas por la profecía bíblica y se incluyen entre sí.
Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículos 10-14
●Hay todo tipo de ideas de estos siete reyes. Algunos dicen que esto está hablando de imperios mundiales. Otros dicen que esto habla de los emperadores originales de Roma... Quienquiera que sean los siete, el líder es la bestia y los vencerá, tendrá todo su poder, ¡pero será por poco tiempo y el Señor prevalecerá!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 17 Versículos 15-18
●Esto es interesante que las diez naciones, representadas por los diez cuernos que son la bestia que ella monta y luego es llevada por, la Gran Ramera, el espíritu de adoración falsa, la caída, ella está unida con la bestia y luego diez naciones y sin embargo, el ángel le dice a Juan aquí que la odiarán y la dejarán desolada. La palabra en griego es “miseo”, donde salimos del mundo miserables. Dije la semana pasada, incluso cuando el pecado te dé todo lo que prometió, no serás feliz. Otra forma de decir infeliz... descontento... o miserable.
●Aquí creo que estamos viendo la naturaleza y la recompensa del pecado y cómo en su esencia, es vacío y muy triste. El pecado te entristece. No lo olvides. Quizás no en el momento… en el momento, oye, placer… pero a tu vida y a quien eres en el fondo de tu corazón, crea desolación, desnudez (que significa impotencia), te devora por dentro y te quema. Es por eso que Dios lo odia tanto y desea tanto que yo me libre de él (por eso envió a Jesús y su Espíritu Santo) y, en última instancia, quiere que me mantenga alejado de él hoy... para caminar en sabiduría.
●El mundo y la gente del mundo están completamente entregados al pecado. Los caídos están a la vista y gobernando y reinando... y la gente todavía está descontenta e incluso odia en qué se han convertido las cosas. ¿Por qué? Porque somos pecadores o santos, todos fuimos hechos de manera maravillosa, creados a la imagen de Dios con un propósito y es conocer al Señor y caminar con él. Cualquier otra cosa que no sea... la alegría puede durar toda la noche, pero el dolor llega por la mañana.
●El propósito de Dios para todos nosotros, lo que fue usurpado y robado por los caídos... es muy simple. Conocerlo y caminar con Él. Nada más servirá. Y cualquier otra cosa, cualquier otra cosa, bueno... ni siquiera necesitas el juicio de Dios, el pecado se volverá sobre sí mismo y te pudrirá a ti ya tu vida de adentro hacia afuera. Dios tiene un plan TAN mejor para ti y para mí. Toma el dolor de la noche... confía en Dios y sigue Su camino... porque el gozo vendrá en la mañana...
●Aquí, la Babilonia espiritual ha caído, la próxima vez veremos caer la ciudad física... y ese es el patrón de aquellos que endurecen sus corazones... primero caen espiritualmente y se conforman con una relación a larga distancia con Jesús... luego su ciudad cae... y luego su juego sobre el hombre...
