Luke 2 vs 21-38

An account of Simeon and Anna…looking for the Lord
Luke Chapter 2 Verse 21
•We’ve already learned in studies past that the name of the male child was not announced until he was circumcised which is a picture of identity, life, reason and relationship to others all becoming clear to the mind when the heart is opened to the Holy Spirit. Here, we’re told that Mary and Joseph waited until the eighth day until they had this procedure done on Jesus. Why? Well, Jesus said in Matthew 5:17, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill!”
•What happened to mankind? Born in the image of God. Created perfect and without sin…and created with free will. No sin, but the ability and capability to sin. And through one man, sin entered the world. When sin entered, the law was born. It wasn’t needed until then. There was no sin therefore there was no need and there was no knowledge of the law. The law, all that God has said/decreed/designed, simply was the heart of man.
•But, now the heart of man was changed because of sin…and the law, rather than being who we were, was and is who we were designed to be…and no man was ever found again able in his own strength to walk in all that God has said, decreed and originally designed. Until Jesus.
•To restore man to God, to save man from sin, Jesus in all ways had to conform perfectly to the law of God. All that God had said. And God had said (also in Genesis 17:12), in Leviticus 12:1-3, “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If a woman has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.” So, He was, even at 8 days old, perfect under the law.
•And interesting, just a few extra nuggets here…like when you order an 8 piece from Chik-Fil-A and discover there are 9 in the box…then you rejoice for the first moment and then you’re convicted the second moment…for not paying for the Lord’s chicken, HA…then you eat it quickly to chase away the guilt…HA! A few extra nuggets quickly…
•God’s ways are perfect, even in the unseen and unknown…one example….on the eighth day, the amount of Vitamin K and prothrombin present is elevated above 100% of normal and it is the only day in the males life in which this will ever be the case under normal conditions. These two elements are vital for coagulation, therefore stopping bleeding and enabling faster healing. So what day is the perfect day in the entire life of the male to perform this procedure? The eighth day!
•Is it know even by western doctors? Yes. Is it done on the eighth day everywhere? No. Why…because in modern western medicine, it is a common and accepted practice to inject a newborn with Vitamin K in case of internal bleeding of any sort and one doctor writes, “Honestly, its insurance driven,” …so…counterfeited again…
•Another super interesting extra chicken nugget is an explanation given by Rabbi Yehuda Shurpin. He explains that the brit milah (Jewish for circumcision) is a sign of the eternal covenant and bond between Jews and God (which we know that from the Old Testament). But, he continues and explains that it is suprarational. (A new term for me that I’m really excited about! HA) He says, “Our covenant with God is suprarational; it does not dissipate in moments when we don’t comprehend why we do what we do. Therefore, the brit milah is a matter of faith; it signifies a bond that is higher than the intellect.” I REALLY like that…
•1 John 3:20 says, “Even if our own heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart.” My relationship with God, your relationship with God through the paid restoration price of Jesus Christ, is suprarational. Even if I don’t understand, can’t comprehend it and don’t feel it…even if I’ve blown it today, this week, or thus far in my life…God still loves you and through Jesus welcomes anyone and everyone at anytime and everytime! Ok, we ate those extra nuggets before anyone noticed, now let’s move on…
Luke Chapter 2 Verses 22 – 24
•Turtledoves are those flying bad guys in Mario Brothers. HA! Just kidding! What we just read is in strict accordance with the Law, specifically Leviticus 12 (which is actually a really short chapter, only 8 verses). What’s interesting is what they brought to offer as a sacrifice. Leviticus 12 calls for a lamb of the first year as a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering. But, if you are too poor and not able to bring a lamb, then you may bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. Why is that interesting? Two things…
•You know in every nativity scene out there they have animals, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, maybe an angel or two…but they all have these wise men. Now, brace yourself. What did the wisemen bring to Jesus? Gold…frankincense (a very expensive spice), and myrrh (another very expensive spice). But when Jesus is brought on day 8, they were penniless. So, unfortunately the nativity scenes are wrong. HA! The wise men came later as it is written in Matthew Chapter 2:11, that they came to a house and Jesus was a young child by then…
•Second thing here is that what’s amazing is that while Mary and Joseph and Jesus…they were poor, they knew intense poverty, true…but man even in their poverty, they were so intensely rich. Mary did bring an unblemished Lamb of the first year…He was in her arms. The most valuable Lamb to ever have been had…and so in this scene is the rich and the poor made one in the presence, purpose and person of Jesus. Although they had so little on this earth, she had more, they had more than this world ever could offer. Such is true of the one who knows and walks with the Lord.
•Buy wisdom. You can’t. Buy peace of heart. You can’t. Take all of that money that you’ve earned and poured out your soul for and buy joy, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness…buy those things…you can’t. Buy capacity, understanding, strength of character and heart…buy grace…you can’t. You see, even if you have little, are you with Jesus? You have SO much!
Luke Chapter 2 Verses 25 – 32
•Perhaps the oddest of all baby dedications ever…this random man takes Jesus from Mary, “Time for me to depart, Lord!” At this moment, Mary looked at him and said, “I want my Baby back!...Baby back….Baby back…,” HAHAHA! Sorry…so definitely ODD SCENE but Luke is so extremely intelligent and that is why he and he alone includes this account with Simeon in his Gospel. I’ll tell you why in a moment…
•This man had heard the rumors about and talk of Zacharias, Elizabeth and their son John…he knew something was up…but apart from what he heard, notice, he was led by the Spirit. And God had preserved him into a very old age, to the point that he was ready to die…that old…and we know that because he is joyful when he sees Jesus…if it was the other way around he would have plucked out his eyes and lived forever! HA!
•Day in and day out he watches as new parents bring their children to the temple according to the law…and each time, his eyes find no rest…then appears Jesus…and Simeon descends upon them and takes Jesus immediately into his arms and holding onto Jesus (notice) he blesses God…(a whole sermon there)…
•He calls Jesus, God’s salvation…precisely what the name Jesus literally means (could he have even said the name Jesus not knowing the Child’s name!?), … He didn’t say “God’s good Man,” “God’s Prophet,” “One of many Salvations,” this is it, Jesus is the only Way…He is the One…and Simeon says something no one expected, not even Mary and Joseph, that Jesus would not only be the convergence point of the rich and the poor but also of the Jew and the Gentile. The Savior for all peoples…and then he turns to Mary…
Luke Chapter 2 Verses 33 – 35
•Fully loaded verses there but here’s the fly-over…Jesus is the reason anyone gets home to the Father. Why? He’s the only Door, the only Way, the only Salvation by which all that is wrong is reversed…the law of God is fulfilled only in Him, and so many will choose Him, embrace Him, receive Him and many will rise…but all others will fall. He is the very pivot point of all humanity…and He is the Word made flesh and the Word, electrified by the power of the Holy Spirit, pierces into the darkness of the hearts of all men…all the way to soul transformation…and thought revelation and repairing! I promise you an entire sermon series is here…what’s said is not only about the difficulty ahead for Mary but the very power of salvation that comes with and only with Jesus Christ…
•Now let me show why Luke is the man in terms of intelligence as we close… (I mean, he was writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit)!
Luke Chapter 2 Verses 36 – 38
•Enter random character number two! Anna! Only spoken of by Luke, why? Only known by Mary…and no doubt Mary is the source of this particular information… But why? Why include Simeon and Anna in the advent of Jesus Christ? So that it is clear, that Jesus is the Christ… Luke is laying out a perfect account for all that would hear, that Jesus is perfect in terms of the Law and indeed the Messiah of the world.
•Luke is establishing the advent of the Christ through two or three witnesses! We have four credible witnesses, some would say three, some would actually not include Mary, but we have Joseph who testified in his day of the angels personal proclamation to him, we have Simeon…everyone knows him and everyone knows he is devout and waiting for the Messiah…and we have Anna…no woman was of higher esteem in Jerusalem than her…her life was the temple she had served God alone for 84 years…
•And so anyone hearing with questions, confusion, a bit skeptical…anyone reading Luke’s Gospel there in the first century…they could talk to those that knew Anna and Simeon, saw these things happen…
•Perfect under the law…and even every question we have…God has even given a path to find the answers. All we have to do is look.

Lucas Capítulo 2 Verso 21
•Ya hemos aprendido en estudios anteriores que el nombre del niño varón no se anunció hasta que fue circuncidado, lo cual es una imagen de identidad, vida, razón y relación con los demás que se vuelve clara para la mente cuando el corazón se abre al Espíritu Santo. Aquí, se nos dice que María y José esperaron hasta el octavo día hasta que le hicieron este procedimiento a Jesús. ¿Por qué? Bueno, Jesús dijo en Mateo 5:17: “No penséis que vine a destruir la Ley o los Profetas. ¡No he venido para abrogar, sino para cumplir!" ·

•¿Qué le pasó a la humanidad? Nacido a imagen de Dios. Creado perfecto y sin pecado… y creado con libre albedrío. No hay pecado, pero la habilidad y la capacidad de pecar. Y por un hombre, el pecado entró en el mundo. Cuando entró el pecado, nació la ley. No fue necesario hasta entonces. No había pecado, por lo tanto, no había necesidad y no había conocimiento de la ley. La ley, todo lo que Dios ha dicho / decretado / diseñado, simplemente era el corazón del hombre.

•Pero, ahora el corazón del hombre fue cambiado a causa del pecado ... y la ley, en lugar de ser quienes éramos, era y es lo que fuimos diseñados para ser ... y ningún hombre fue encontrado de nuevo capaz por sus propias fuerzas de caminar en todo lo que Dios ha dicho, decretado y diseñado originalmente. Hasta que vino Jesús.

• Para restaurar al hombre a Dios, para salvar al hombre del pecado, Jesús en todos los sentidos tuvo que ajustarse perfectamente a la ley de Dios. Todo lo que Dios había dicho. Y Dios había dicho (también en Génesis 17:12), en Levíticos 12: 1-3, “Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés, diciendo: “Habla a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Si una mujer concibe y da a luz un niño varón, entonces será considerada impura por siete días; como en los días de su impureza de costumbre. Y al octavo día se circuncidará el prepucio de su hijo”. Entonces, él era, incluso a los 8 días de edad, perfecto bajo la ley.
•E interesante, solo unas cuantos Nuggets extra aquí ... como cuando
pides una pieza de 8 de Chik-Fil-A y descubres que hay 9 en la caja ... luego te regocijas por el primer momento y luego eres condenado en el segundo momento ... por no pagar por el pollo del Señor, JA… entonces te lo comes rápido para ahuyentar la culpa… ¡JA! Unas cuantos nuggets extra rápidamente ...

•Los caminos de Dios son perfectos, incluso en lo invisible y desconocido ... un ejemplo ... en el octavo día, la cantidad de vitamina K y protrombina presentes se eleva por encima del 100% de lo normal y es el único día en la vida de los hombres en el que esto siempre será el caso en condiciones normales. Estos dos elementos son vitales para la coagulación, por lo que detienen el sangrado y permiten una curación más rápida. Entonces, ¿qué día es el día perfecto en toda la vida del hombre para realizar este procedimiento? ¡El octavo día!
•¿Lo conocen incluso los médicos occidentales? Si. ¿Se hace en el octavo día en todas partes? No. Por qué ... porque en la medicina occidental moderna, es una práctica común y aceptada inyectar a un recién nacido con vitamina K en caso de hemorragia interna de cualquier tipo y un médico escribe, "Honestamente, es manejado por los seguros medicos", ... entonces ... falsificado nuevamente ...
•Otro nugget de pollo extra súper interesante es una explicación dada por el rabino Yehuda Shurpin. Explica que el brit milá (judío por circuncisión) es una señal del pacto eterno y el vínculo entre los judíos y Dios (que sabemos eso por el Antiguo Testamento). Pero, continúa y explica que es supraracional. (¡Un término nuevo para mí que me entusiasma mucho! JA) Dice: “Nuestro pacto con Dios es supraracional; no se disipa en los momentos en que no comprendemos por qué hacemos lo que hacemos. Por lo tanto, el brit milá es una cuestión de fe; significa un vínculo que es más alto que el intelecto ". Realmente me gusta eso…

•1 Juan 3:20 dice: "Incluso si nuestro corazón nos condena, Dios es mayor que nuestro corazón". Mi relación con Dios a través del precio de restauración pagado por Jesucristo, es supraracional. Incluso si no entiendo, no puedo comprenderlo y no lo siento ... incluso si lo he echado a perder hoy, esta semana o hasta ahora en mi vida ... Dios todavía te ama y a través de Jesús da la bienvenida a cual quiera y a todos en cualquier momento y en todo momento! Ok, nos comimos esas nuggets extra antes de que nadie se diera cuenta, ahora sigamos ...

Lucas Capítulo 2 Versículos 22-24

•Las tórtolas son los malos voladores de Mario Brothers. ¡AH! ¡Es una broma! Lo que acabamos de leer está en estricta conformidad con la Ley, específicamente con Levítico 12 (que en realidad es un capítulo muy corto, solo 8 versículos). Lo interesante es lo que trajeron para ofrecer como sacrificio. Levítico 12 pide un cordero del primer año como holocausto y un pichón o una tórtola como ofrenda por el pecado. Pero, si eres demasiado pobre y no puedes traer un cordero, entonces puedes traer dos tórtolas o dos pichones. ¿Por qué es tan interesante? Dos cosas…

•Sabes que en cada Nacimiento Navideño hay animales, María, José, pastores, tal vez un ángel o dos… pero todos tienen estos reyes magos. Ahora, prepárate. ¿Qué le trajeron los magos a Jesús? Oro ... incienso (una especia muy cara) y mirra (otra especia muy cara). Pero cuando trajeron a Jesús el día 8, no tenían un centavo. Entonces, lamentablemente, los Nacimientos Navideños están equivocados. ¡AH! Los magos vinieron más tarde, como está escrito en Mateo capítulo 2:11, que llegaron a una casa y Jesús era un niño para entonces ...

•Lo segundo aquí es que lo asombroso es que mientras María, José y Jesús… eran pobres, conocieron la pobreza intensa, cierto… pero hombre incluso en su pobreza, eran tan intensamente ricos. María sí trajo un Cordero inmaculado del primer año ... Estaba en sus brazos. El Cordero más valioso que jamás se haya tenido ... y así, en esta escena, los ricos y los pobres se hacen uno en la presencia, el propósito y persona de Jesús. Aunque tenían tan poco en esta tierra, ella tenía más, tenían más de lo que este mundo jamás podría ofrecer. Tal es el caso del que conoce al Señor y camina con él.

• Compre sabiduría. No puedes. Compre la paz del corazón. No puedes. Toma todo ese dinero que has ganado y derrama tu alma y compra alegría, bondad, bondad, fidelidad, gentileza ... compra esas cosas ... no puedes. Compre capacidad, comprensión, fuerza de carácter y corazón ... compre gracia ... no puedes. Verás, aunque tengas poco, ¿estás con Jesús? ¡Tienes tanto!

Lucas Capítulo 2 Versículos 25-32
•Quizás la más extraña de todas las dedicatorias de bebés ... este hombre al azar toma a Jesús de María, "¡Es hora de que me vaya, Señor!" En ese momento, Mary lo miró y dijo: “¡Quiero que me devuelva mi bebé! ... ¡Devuelva a mi Bebe!...!Devuelava mi Bebe ...”, JAJAJA! Lo siento ... definitivamente ESCENA EXTRAÑA, pero Lucas es extremadamente inteligente y es por eso que él y solo él incluyen este relato con Simeón en su Evangelio. Te diré por qué en un momento ...
• Este hombre había escuchado los rumores y hablado de Zacarías, Isabel y su hijo Juan… sabía que algo estaba pasando… pero aparte de lo que escuchó, fíjense, fue guiado por el Espíritu. Y Dios lo había preservado hasta una edad muy avanzada, hasta el punto de que estaba listo para morir ... así de viejo ... y sabemos eso porque se alegra cuando ve a Jesús ... si fuera al revés, se habría arrancado los ojos y vivido para siempre! ¡AH!
•Día tras día observa cómo los nuevos padres llevan a sus hijos al templo de acuerdo con la ley ... y cada vez, sus ojos no encuentran descanso ... luego aparece Jesús ... y Simeón desciende sobre ellos y toma a Jesús inmediatamente en sus brazos y sosteniendo sobre Jesús (fíjense) él bendice a Dios ... (un sermón completo allí) ...
• Él llama a Jesús, la salvación de Dios ... precisamente lo que literalmente significa el nombre de Jesús (¿¡podría incluso haber dicho el nombre de Jesús sin saber el nombre del Niño !?), ... Él no dijo "El buen hombre de Dios", "El profeta de Dios", “Una de muchas Salvaciones”, esto es, Jesús es el único Camino ... Él es el Único ... y Simeón dice algo que nadie esperaba, ni siquiera María y José, que Jesús no solo sería el punto de convergencia de los ricos y los pobres pero también de judíos y gentiles. El Salvador de todos los pueblos ... y luego se vuelve a María ...
Lucas Capítulo 2 Versículos 33-35
•Versículos completamente cargados allí, pero aquí está el sobrevuelo ... Jesús es la razón por la que alguien llega a casa con el Padre. ¿Por qué? Él es la única Puerta, el único Camino, la única Salvación por la cual todo lo que está mal se revierte ... la ley de Dios se cumple solo en Él, y muchos lo elegirán, lo abrazarán, lo recibirán y muchos se levantarán ... pero todos otros caerán. Él es el punto fundamental de toda la humanidad ... y Él es el Verbo hecho carne y el Verbo, electrificado por el poder del Espíritu Santo, penetra en las tinieblas de los corazones de todos los hombres ... hasta la transformación del alma ... y el pensamiento revelación y reparación! Les prometo que una serie completa de sermones está aquí ... lo que se dice no es solo sobre la dificultad que se avecina para María, sino también sobre el poder de la salvación que viene con y solo con Jesucristo ...
• Ahora al cerrar, permítanme mostrar por qué Lucas es el hombre en términos de inteligencia… (quiero decir, ¡estaba escribiendo bajo la inspiración del Espíritu Santo)!
Lucas Capítulo 2 Versículos 36-38
•Introduzca el carácter aleatorio número dos. ¡Anna! Solo lo menciona Lucas, ¿por qué? Solo conocida por María ... y sin duda María es la fuente de esta información en particular ... Pero ¿por qué? ¿Por qué incluir a Simeón y Ana en el advenimiento de Jesucristo? Para que quede claro, que Jesús es el Cristo ... Lucas está presentando un relato perfecto para todos los que quieren oír, que Jesús es perfecto en términos de la Ley y, de hecho, el Mesías del mundo.
•¡Lucas está estableciendo el advenimiento de Cristo a través de dos o tres testigos! Tenemos cuatro testigos creíbles, algunos dirían tres, algunos en realidad no incluirían a María, pero tenemos a José que testificó en su día de la proclamación personal de los ángeles, tenemos a Simeón ... todos lo conocen y todos saben que es devoto y está esperando para el Mesías ... y tenemos a Ana ... ninguna mujer era de mayor estima en Jerusalén que ella ... su vida era el templo en el que había servido a Dios sola durante 84 años ...

•Entonces, cualquiera que escuche con preguntas, confusión, un poco escéptico ... cualquiera que lea el evangelio de Lucas allí en el primer siglo ... podría hablar con aquellos que conocían a Anna y Simeón, vieron estas cosas suceder ...

•Perfecto bajo la ley ... e incluso cada pregunta que tenemos ... Dios incluso ha dado un camino para encontrar las respuestas. Todo lo que tenemos que hacer es mirar.
