Revelation 22 vs 12-21

Revelation Chapter 22 Verse 12
•Two times in this chapter, “I am coming quickly, I am coming quickly,” and then in verse 20 coming up, “surely, I am coming quickly…” And maybe you say, “This was written 2,000 years ago?” That’s true, but when did Jesus come for John? 2,000 years ago. Any way you want to discuss the timeline of the events of the Book of Revelation, for me personally and for you personally and for us individually, within the next 100 years at most, and even perhaps within the next day or week or month for some, Jesus is indeed coming quickly.
•We get sort of wrapped up in arguing about the timing of the rapture, the timing of the Great Tribulation, the time of the Millennial Reign of Christ, the end of the world if you will…when we would be wise to remember, that whether the Lord returns today or tarries for another century, we will all be face to face with Him soon. So yes, there is an eschatological tie to this statement that Jesus is coming quickly…but with all that we know and have learned and are commanded in His book, for me on my own, Jesus is coming quickly…and His reward is with Him. Hold that thought…
•Jesus said in Matthew 24:44, “Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect!” And in that same chapter Jesus said in verse 36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” And yet also in that same chapter, verses 32-33, He said, “But learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know the summer is near. So, you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near – at the doors!” And remember, Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:4, “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief…” And so, the day and hour, no one knows, but the season for sure we can discern…
•Now, interestingly, Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:8, “Beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” Now, here’s the connection that I admit is a bit loose but I like it and honestly some Bible commentators that are much more intelligent and articulate than myself put together a very convincing narrative… All of the creation was created in one week. One literal week of seven literal days. Taking the Bible literally. God has given the number seven as the number of perfection; the number of creation, the number of completion…and the week has been given to us as a cycle of sorts, a picture of something being complete…
•Just some examples…all of creation completed in seven days. Jesus’ seven statements upon the cross. The model prayer of Jesus in Matthew chapter 6 contains 7 petitions. Deuteronomy tells us that on every seventh year, the Israelites were to cancel all debts and free their slaves. Naaman the leper was to dip seven times in the Jordan River to be healed. (2 Kings 5) Throughout the gospels we find that Jesus healed seven people in total on the seventh day (the Sabbath).
•Check this out, the number seven accompanies the fulfilment of all promises and oaths in the Hebrew language as the Hebrew word for swearing an oath (shaba) and the Hebrew word for seven (sheba) both derive from the Hebrew word meaning satisfaction or fulness which is saba. A few more just to beat this dead horse, HA! God’s covenant rainbow is comprised of seven colors. The Israelites were to march around Jericho how many times? Seven times. Seven letters were written to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation.
•Ok, what am I getting to… settling the point first that the number seven is the number of all things being fulfilled…a week giving us that full cycle…all of these examples…and the fact that Peter told us that a thousand years is as a day to the Lord…. All together now….
•We have the chronology of Jesus all the way back to Adam given to us in Luke Chapter 3. Also, we have and know the number of years, how old Adam was, how long he lived, how old Seth was, how long he lived, how old Enosh was, Cainan, Mahalelel and on and on all the way to Jesus. And we know that Jesus came on the scene 2,022 years ago.
•The history of man alone, history…tracing back through all the genealogies…mankind is between 6,000 and 7,000 years old. What does that mean? Mankind, is in its seventh day…or definitely on the brink of the seventh day and remember, one day (one of those thousand years) is reserved and yet ahead…Jesus’ peaceful reign, the earth’s Sabbath if you will, during the Millennial Reign. So, by that account, we are on borrowed time… And so just something interesting…
•Jesus gives us three times in this last chapter of the entire Bible, in the Revelation of Himself, “Behold I am coming quickly.” Perhaps for the culmination of all things but definitely for you and for me individually and he says with Him is His reward…
•What is the reward? First and foremost, everlasting and eternal life for sure…but that is according to the work on the cross. Jesus says here that this reward He is speaking of is according to our work. Two things to take from that and before going into this…I wonder, does He have anything for you?
•The Bible speaks of rewards that will be awarded to saints based on certain commitments and resolutions and actions and decisions during life. There are five mentioned in the Bible. First, “The Imperishable Crown.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, which is awarded to those who run this race of life well as unto the Lord. “And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”
•Second, “The Crown of Rejoicing,” reserved for the soul winners on earth as Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 2:19, “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?” Third, “The Crown of Righteousness” reserved for those that love the appearing of the Lord Jesus. 2 Timothy 4:8, “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
•Fourth, “The Crown of Glory,” reserved for those that living grateful unto God giving praise in their heart of hearts to Him and serving others well in this life. 1 Peter 5:4, “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” And finally, the fifth crown or reward, “The Crown of Life,” which is for all that remain faithful in trials and in the circumstances of life. Revelation 2:10, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
•So, attributes that earn the rewards Jesus has with Him…does He have anything for you? Are you running this race in such a way to win? As unto the Lord? Do you care about winning people to Christ? Are you longing for the Lord in your circumstances, life and even His return? Are you grateful, and serving others well? Are you striving to walk close to the Lord, remaining faithful in trials? Does He have anything for you?
•Now, imperative principal here when you ponder that statement with verse 9 and 19:10… (As we looked and compared these two verses last week to see that having the testimony of Jesus Christ is keeping the Words of this Book). Keeping the words of this book, a life soaked in the testimony of Jesus Christ, is our work. Our marching orders, man. Paul would call it our reasonable response in Romans 12….
•How many of you here today got saved after reading a tract? How many of you got saved after picking up the old dusty family Bible and flopping it open for 5 minutes? Now, how many of you got saved because someone shared the gospel with you? See what I’m saying? Our work, to keep His word first because if we’re not keeping, able to keep, wanting to keep the words of this book, then we need saving ourselves first…our work is to live out, walk out, a life that testifies of Jesus Christ…His love and His greatness and the ultimate reward? We get Him ourselves!
Revelation Chapter 22 Verses 13 – 15
•“Outside” or “exo” in the Greek…which means “without,” “gone,” “not there,” “dis-included,” “lost….” There is quite the conversation regarding how the new heaven, the new earth and New Jerusalem are situated. Is it all one place? Is New Jerusalem hovering over the earth or some part of the earth…? It’s truly a fruitless debate but an interesting discussion. Based on what we just read, I tend towards that the New Heaven and the New Earth and New Jerusalem are all one…
Revelation Chapter 22 Verse 16
•One of the most undeniable example of Jesus’ deity in all of scripture is found in this chapter. Jesus proclaiming here that He is both the “root” and the “offspring” of David is a revelation of His divine nature and yet His step into His own creation…
•And yet also, we read in verse 13 that whoever is speaking is the Almighty…undeniable…and that Person identifies Himself in verse 16…, “I, Jesus.” Any group, religion, church or person that tells you they are a Christian and yet denies the deity of Christ Himself, they have rejected the Bible and are to be rejected themselves. Exactly what God will proclaim in a few verses. But be careful. If they say they follow Christ and yet Christ is not the Christ of the Bible, then they are not Christians…
•Same Christianese, full of niceties and kindnesses and hospitalities…great people… But wrong God. It’s like any counterfeit. Looks real, some look very real, but it’s a fake. Just being real with you.
Revelation Chapter 22 Verse 17
•(The water of life today is God’s grace! Romans 3:24 says, “You and I, now, in our day today, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…!” This fount is ahead, but even now, the water of life flows freely in the heart and mind and life of the saved!
Revelation Chapter 22 Verses 18 - 19
•Very stern and sure warning to those who have altered the Word of God to fit into their own beliefs…those that have tried to change Jesus into their own image rather than believe Him, learn Him, follow Him right where He’s at…upon the throne of heaven!
•If you were to be left alone with the Word of God, you could definitely become a born-again follower of Jesus Christ. You could never become a Mormon, or a Roman Catholic, or a Christian Scientist, or a Jehovah’s Witness… All of these groups that have said that the Bible isn’t enough, you need their interpretations, they all are in direct conflict with the Bible itself… John himself saying in 1 John 2:26-27, “These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
•Careful with this stuff because anytime someone takes away or adds to the Word of God, all that does is divide the Body of Christ… God hates division… its from the enemy… and ultimately if we would simply heed the Word of God and not the word of man, there would be far less disunity and disruption within the Bride of Christ…but oh man, horrifying to the enemy. A united church is unstoppable. A divided church is pitiful. We must even protect against that here in this church…which I will.
Revelation Chapter 22 Verses 20 – 21
•“I come quickly, I come quickly, I come quickly.” Get ready. And the final thought of this wondrous book…God’s grace. Not only is His return near, not only is His coming to fulfill all the prophecies of this Book upon us…without a doubt as we watch the world scene and circumstance after circumstance lines up perfectly with the Word of God…but God’s grace…, “Behold I come quickly.”
•A prayer away. A bent knee’s length. To know Him, to keep the company of angels…to take of the water of life…! A walk with Jesus begins and ends with receiving the grace of God, and so does this book!


Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículo 12
•Dos veces en este capítulo, "Vengo rápido, vengo rápido", y luego en el versículo 20 que viene, "seguramente, vengo rápido..." ¿Y tal vez dices: "¿Esto fue escrito hace 2.000 años?" Eso es cierto, pero ¿cuándo vino Jesús por Juan? Hace 2.000 años. Así que sí, hay un vínculo escatológico con esta afirmación de que Jesús viene rápidamente... pero con todo lo que sabemos y hemos aprendido y se nos ordena en Su libro, para mí por mi cuenta, Jesús viene rápidamente... y Su recompensa está con Él. Mantén ese pensamiento ...
•Jesús dijo en Mateo 24:44: "¡Estad preparados, porque el Hijo del Hombre viene a una hora que no esperáis!" Y en ese mismo capítulo Jesús dijo en el versículo 36: "Pero de ese día y hora nadie sabe, ni siquiera los ángeles del cielo, sino sólo mi Padre". Y sin embargo, también en ese mismo capítulo, versículos 32-33, Él dijo: "Pero aprende esta parábola de la higuera: Cuando su rama ya se ha vuelto tierna y pone hojas, sabes que el verano está cerca. Entonces, tú también, cuando ves todas estas cosas, sabes que está cerca, ¡en las puertas!" Y recuerden, Pablo dijo en 1 Tesalonicenses 5:4: "Pero ustedes, hermanos, no están en tinieblas, para que este Día los supere como ladrón..." Y así, el día y la hora, nadie lo sabe, pero la temporada con certeza podemos discernir...
•Ahora, curiosamente, Pedro escribió en 2 Pedro 3:8: "Amados, no olvidéis esta única cosa, que con el Señor un día es como mil años, y mil años como un día". Ahora, aquí está la conexión que admito que es un poco floja, pero me gusta y, honestamente, algunos comentaristas de la Biblia que son mucho más inteligentes y articulados que yo armaron una narrativa muy convincente ... Toda la creación fue creada en una semana. Una semana literal de siete días literales. Tomando la Biblia literalmente. Dios ha dado el número siete como el número de perfección; el número de la creación, el número de la finalización... y la semana se nos ha dado como una especie de ciclo, una imagen de algo que está completo ...
•Sólo algunos ejemplos... toda la creación completada en siete días. Las siete declaraciones de Jesús en la cruz. La oración modelo de Jesús en Mateo capítulo 6 contiene 7 peticiones. Deuteronomio nos dice que cada siete años, los israelitas debían cancelar todas las deudas y liberar a sus esclavos. Naamán el leproso debía sumergirse siete veces en el río Jordán para ser sanado. (2 Reyes 5) A lo largo de los evangelios encontramos que Jesús sanó a siete personas en total en el séptimo día (el sábado).
•Echa un vistazo a esto, el número siete acompaña el cumplimiento de todas las promesas y juramentos en el idioma hebreo, ya que la palabra hebrea para jurar un juramento (shaba) y la palabra hebrea para siete (sheba) derivan de la palabra hebrea que significa satisfacción o plenitud que es saba. Unos cuantos más solo para vencer a este caballo muerto, ¡JA! El arco iris del pacto de Dios se compone de siete colores. Los israelitas debían marchar alrededor de Jericó ¿cuántas veces? Siete veces. Siete cartas fueron escritas a las siete iglesias en el Libro de Apocalipsis.
•Ok, a qué estoy llegando ... resolviendo el punto primero de que el número siete es el número de todas las cosas que se cumplen ... una semana dándonos ese ciclo completo... todos estos ejemplos... y el hecho de que Pedro nos dijo que mil años es como un día para el Señor... Todos juntos ahora....
•Tenemos la cronología de Jesús que se remonta a Adán que se nos dio en Lucas capítulo 3. Además, tenemos y sabemos el número de años, cuántos años tenía Adán, cuánto tiempo vivió, cuántos años tenía Set, cuánto tiempo vivió, cuántos años tenía Enosh, Cainan, Mahalelel y así sucesivamente hasta Jesús. Y sabemos que Jesús entró en escena hace 2.022 años.
•La historia del hombre solo, la historia... rastreando todas las genealogías... la humanidad tiene entre 6.000 y 7.000 años de antigüedad. ¿Qué significa eso? La humanidad, está en su séptimo día... o definitivamente al borde del séptimo día y recuerda, un día (uno de esos mil años) está reservado y sin embargo por delante... El reinado pacífico de Jesús, el sábado de la tierra, si se quiere, durante el Reino Milenario. Entonces, por esa cuenta, estamos en tiempo prestado ... Y entonces algo interesante...
•Jesús nos da tres veces en este último capítulo de toda la Biblia, en la Revelación de sí mismo: "He aquí que vengo rápidamente". Tal vez para la culminación de todas las cosas, pero definitivamente para ti y para mí individualmente y él dice que con Él es Su recompensa...
•¿Cuál es la recompensa? En primer lugar, la vida eterna y eterna con seguridad... pero eso es de acuerdo con la obra en la cruz. Jesús dice aquí que esta recompensa de la que está hablando está de acuerdo con nuestro trabajo. Dos cosas que tomar de eso y antes de entrar en esto... Me pregunto, ¿tiene Él algo para ti?
•La Biblia habla de recompensas que se otorgarán a los santos en base a ciertos compromisos y resoluciones y acciones y decisiones durante la vida. Hay cinco mencionados en la Biblia. Primero, "La corona imperecedera". 1 Corintios 9:24-25, que se otorga a los que corren bien esta carrera de la vida como al Señor. "Y todos los que compiten por el premio son templados en todas las cosas. Ahora lo hacen para obtener una corona perecedera, pero nosotros por una corona imperecedera".
•Segundo, "La Corona de Regocijo", reservada para los ganadores de almas en la tierra como Pablo escribió en 1 Tesalonicenses 2:19, "¿Porque cuál es nuestra esperanza, o gozo, o corona de regocijo? ¿Ni siquiera estás en la presencia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo en Su venida?" Tercero, "La Corona de Justicia" reservada para aquellos que aman la aparición del Señor Jesús. 2 Timoteo 4:8, "Finalmente, se ha puesto para mí la corona de justicia, que el Señor, el Juez justo, me dará en ese Día, y no sólo a mí, sino también a todos los que han amado Su aparición".
•Cuarto, "La Corona de Gloria", reservado para aquellos que viven agradecidos a Dios dándole alabanza en su corazón de corazones a Él y sirviendo bien a los demás en esta vida. 1 Pedro 5:4, "Y cuando aparezca el Pastor Principal, recibirás la corona de gloria que no se desvanece". Y finalmente, la quinta corona o recompensa, "La Corona de la Vida", que es para todos los que permanecen fieles en las pruebas y en las circunstancias de la vida. Apocalipsis 2:10, "No temáis ninguna de las cosas que estáis a punto de sufrir. De hecho, el diablo está a punto de arrojar a algunos de ustedes a la cárcel, para que puedan ser probados, y tendrán tribulación diez días. Sed fieles hasta la muerte, y yo os daré la corona de la vida".
•Entonces, atributos que ganan las recompensas que Jesús tiene con Él... ¿Tiene Él algo para ti? ¿Estás corriendo esta carrera de tal manera que ganes? ¿Como al Señor? ¿Te importa ganar personas para Cristo? ¿Estás anhelando al Señor en tus circunstancias, en tu vida e incluso en Su regreso? ¿Estás agradecido y sirviendo bien a los demás? ¿Te estás esforzando por caminar cerca del Señor, permaneciendo fiel en las pruebas? ¿Tiene Él algo para ti?
•Ahora, principio imperativo aquí cuando medites en esa declaración con los versículos 9 y 19:10... (Al mirar y comparar estos dos versículos la semana pasada para ver que tener el testimonio de Jesucristo es guardar las Palabras de este Libro). Guardar las palabras de este libro, una vida empapada en el testimonio de Jesucristo, es nuestro trabajo. Nuestras órdenes de marcha, hombre. Pablo lo llamaría nuestra respuesta razonable en Romanos 12...
•¿Cuántos de ustedes aquí hoy se salvaron después de leer un tratado? ¿Cuántos de ustedes se salvaron después de recoger la vieja y polvorienta Biblia familiar y abrirla durante 5 minutos? Ahora, ¿cuántos de ustedes se salvaron porque alguien compartió el Evangelio con ustedes? ¿Ves lo que estoy diciendo? Nuestro trabajo, guardar Su palabra primero porque si no estamos guardando, capaces de guardar, queriendo guardar las palabras de este libro, entonces necesitamos salvarnos a nosotros mismos primero... nuestro trabajo es vivir, salir, una vida que testifique de Jesucristo... ¿Su amor y Su grandeza y la recompensa final? ¡Lo obtenemos nosotros mismos!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículos 13– 15
•"Afuera" o "exo" en griego... que significa "sin", "ido", "no allí", "des-incluido", "perdido..." Hay bastante conversación sobre cómo se sitúan el nuevo cielo, la nueva tierra y la Nueva Jerusalén. ¿Es todo un solo lugar? ¿Está la Nueva Jerusalén flotando sobre la tierra o alguna parte de la tierra...? Es realmente un debate infructuoso pero una discusión interesante. Basándome en lo que acabamos de leer, tiendo a que el Nuevo Cielo y la Nueva Tierra y la Nueva Jerusalén son todos uno ...
Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículo 16
•Uno de los ejemplos más innegables de la deidad de Jesús en todas las Escrituras se encuentra en este capítulo. Jesús proclamando aquí que Él es tanto la "raíz" como la "descendencia" de David es una revelación de Su naturaleza divina y, sin embargo, Su paso a Su propia creación...
•Y sin embargo, también, leemos en el versículo 13 que quien está hablando es el Todopoderoso... innegable... y esa Persona se identifica en el versículo 16..., "Yo, Jesús". Cualquier grupo, religión, iglesia o persona que te diga que es cristiano y, sin embargo, niegue la deidad de Cristo mismo, han rechazado la Biblia y deben ser rechazados ellos mismos. Exactamente lo que Dios proclamará en unos pocos versículos. Pero cuidado. Si dicen que siguen a Cristo y, sin embargo, Cristo no es el Cristo de la Biblia, entonces no son cristianos...
•La misma cristiana, llena de sutilezas y bondades y hospitalidades... grandes personas... Pero mal Dios. Es como cualquier falsificación. Parece real, algunos parecen muy reales, pero es falso. Simplemente siendo real contigo.
Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículo 17
•(¡El agua de la vida hoy es la gracia de Dios! Romanos 3:24 dice: "¡Tú y yo, ahora, en nuestros días, siendo justificados libremente por Su gracia a través de la redención que está en Cristo Jesús...!" ¡Esta fuente está por delante, pero incluso ahora, el agua de la vida fluye libremente en el corazón y la mente y la vida de los salvos!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículos 18 - 19
•Advertencia muy severa y segura a aquellos que han alterado la Palabra de Dios para que encaje en sus propias creencias... aquellos que han tratado de cambiar a Jesús a su propia imagen en lugar de creerle, aprenderlo, seguirlo justo donde él está... sobre el trono del cielo!
•Si te quedaras solo con la Palabra de Dios, definitivamente podrías convertirte en un seguidor nacido de nuevo de Jesucristo. Nunca podrías convertirte en mormón, o católico romano, o científico cristiano, o testigo de Jehová... Todos estos grupos que han dicho que la Biblia no es suficiente, necesitas sus interpretaciones, todos están en conflicto directo con la Biblia misma... Juan mismo diciendo en 1 Juan 2:26-27: "Estas cosas os he escrito concernientes a los que tratan de engañaros. Pero la unción que has recibido de Él permanece en ti, y no necesitas que nadie te enseñe; pero como la misma unción te enseña acerca de todas las cosas, y es verdadera, y no es una mentira, y así como te ha enseñado, permanecerás en Él".
•Cuidado con estas cosas porque cada vez que alguien quita o agrega a la Palabra de Dios, todo lo que hace es dividir el Cuerpo de Cristo ... Dios odia la división... es del enemigo ... y en última instancia, si simplemente prestáramos atención a la Palabra de Dios y no a la palabra del hombre, habría mucha menos desunión y perturbación dentro de la Novia de Cristo... pero oh hombre, horroroso para el enemigo. Una iglesia unida es imparable. Una iglesia dividida es lamentable. Incluso debemos protegernos contra eso aquí en esta iglesia... lo cual haré.
Apocalipsis Capítulo 22 Versículos 20– 21
•"Vengo rápido, vengo rápido, vengo rápido". Prepárate. Y el pensamiento final de este maravilloso libro... La gracia de Dios. No sólo está cerca Su regreso, no sólo Es Su venida para cumplir todas las profecías de este Libro sobre nosotros... sin duda, al observar la escena mundial y circunstancia tras circunstancia se alinea perfectamente con la Palabra de Dios... pero la gracia de Dios..., "He aquí que vengo rápido".
•A una oración de distancia. La longitud de una rodilla doblada. Conocerlo, llevar la compañía de ángeles... para tomar del agua de la vida...! Un caminar con Jesús comienza y termina con recibir la gracia de Dios, ¡y también lo hace este libro!
