2 Corinthians 11 vs 5-33

2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 5 – 6
•Paul considers this folly that he would say this about himself. Why is that? It’s entirely true. By volume, who wrote most of the New Testament? LUKE! HA! Trick question! The Gospel according to Luke plus The Book of Acts gives you a word count of 37,933 or roughly 27% of the entire New Testament. Paul’s 13 letters come in at second with a word count of 32,407 words or roughly 23% of the New Testament. Even when you add in the Book of Hebrews, which is 4,953 words, Paul still comes in a close second to Luke. Just FYI…
•But here’s Paul, being undermined by people claiming to be real apostles, more so than Paul, and Paul makes an entirely factual statement but to him it’s foolishness to do so. Why? Because far more important than demanding respect is earning respect! It’s been said that respecting and honoring others does not indicate the quality of their character but rather the quality of yours.
•I love what Proverbs 27 says, verses 2 and 3, “Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but a fool’s wrath is heavier than both!” Paul is letting it all out and defending himself against those who would call him weak, unproven, unworthy and unpowerful…but ultimately he knows it’s foolish to promote yourself and invokes his character and actions to bear the burden of proof.
•This should also be applied to Jesus. You know, people say all kinds of things about Jesus. Who He was and wasn’t…that He’s this or He is that…but read the account of the way He was. Read His own words. Watch Him in the record of His earthly ministry. Who cares what they say…you go and find out for yourselves. Jesus said, “Who do men say that I am?” And His disciples answered with all sorts of things… Then He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Because that’s all that matters for you really isn’t it?
•Those who really look for Him…it will be just as Paul said here about himself, He will be thoroughly manifested among you in all things…and then you will come to the point where you could care less what is said about Him…you know Him yourself.
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 7 – 12
•Verse7 – There were some who said, “How can you listen to him? He doesn’t even charge you for his material! How could it be good!?”
•Paul calls them out on envy right there. They hate us because they want to be us, kind of thing! But they’re not willing to endure the humility…they’re not willing to do what we will do!
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 13 – 15
•It’s somewhat of a shocking statement and one that is often quoted. That Satan, the enemy, will and can often transform himself into an angel of light. I don’t think if we saw Satan that we would be disgusted…I think it would be quite the opposite. The most beautiful of angels…but all he wants to do and all that he is going to is to steal, kill and destroy. So how can we have any chance of identifying when something is of the enemy? We can’t rely on our senses…we must know the Word of God! We must know the One True God to properly identify and guard against the chief false god…
•Paul says here that the disguise is revealed in their end according to their works, but for me…and listen, for you, that’s too late! The end of the road is a dead end, destruction at worst and wasted time at best…in truth the church in Corinth should have rejected these false teachers the moment they started bagging on Paul and certainly as soon as they twisted the gospel…but Paul says, miss all that…you’ll still see…but it will cost you. Defects and unidentified problems don’t get better with time…best to be sharp…
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 16 – 21
•Why is it that we so readily embrace harsh masters like cruelty, rage, lust, anger, selfishness, materialism…and yet it is a battle for us to come under the command of the One Master who loves us and delivers freedom!? Truly a mystery of this fallen nature!
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verse 22
•I love this! God is the great equalizer! In other portions of scripture, specifically Galatians 3:28, we are told there is neither Jew nor Gentile, which speaks of ethnicity, there is no division of race…neither slave nor free, which speaks of class division, rich or poor…nor is there male and female…which speaks of gender equality…for you are all one in Christ Jesus. There is no race of man more important to God than any other. Rich people are not more important to God than poor people. Men are not more important to God than women. God is the great equalizer and the truth is found in Him. No matter what you are, who you are, what color you are or what you have, you are equal to every other person and every other person is equal to you… If you feel differently, then you are wrong…and ministering perhaps for the wrong god…
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 23 – 28
•This is interesting…how does Paul gauge his allegiance, his belonging to Christ…how does he prove it to himself and here to others…? The degree of which he has suffered. And man, this is the truth. You can get a good gauge on your faith by how much it takes for you to flip to the flesh! Five times Paul received 39 lashes from the Jews. 195 times the whip has been laid upon him…what do you think his back looked like? He bore the marks of following Christ and for that he had the surety in himself to simply tell all that came against him including his own inner issues (which he is about to address) to back off.
•Galatians 6:17, “From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” Once you suffer, not your feelings…not your pride…I mean suffer, man…when your flesh is put out to pasture…that’s when you learn that Christ is enough! Here’s one example of his inward pain…that although is real, cannot stop him…
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verse 29
•Paul was often made to stumble especially by the Church in Corinth. Stumble in his heart of hearts right into discouragement, anger, rage, frustration…but when it came to how he was amongst them…gentle. That is intense suffering in the flesh just right there… I’d rather take a physical beating then be stabbed in the back by those that I love…how about you? Consider, Jesus endured both for me…and never left me.
2 Corinthians Chapter 11 Verses 30 - 33
•Ultimately, Paul leads them to what is right to boast about…all of the wonderful ways in which God has delivered you… All of the amazing things He has done specifically for you in your life! Don’t have much to boast about? Perhaps its time to start trusting Him! Start serving God! Look at what Paul goes to when he turns to what he is truly proud to boast about…a circumstance where he was serving the Lord…and difficulty arose…
•Are you in a difficult place now? God knows our world is…serve the Lord. Turn to Him…not only was He Savior but He still is even today…and His desire, like a good father, is to save you.

●Pero aquí está Paul, siendo socavado por personas que dicen ser apóstoles reales, más que Paul, y Paul hace una declaración completamente objetiva, pero para él es una tontería hacerlo. ¿Por qué? ¡Porque mucho más importante que exigir respeto es ganarse el respeto! Se ha dicho que respetar y honrar a los demás no indica la calidad de su carácter sino más bien la calidad de los suyos.
●Me encanta lo que dice Proverbios 27, versículos 2 y 3: “Deja que alguien más te alabe, y no tu propia boca; un extraño, y no tus propios labios. ¡La piedra es pesada y la arena es una carga, pero la ira de un tonto es más pesada que ambas! " Paul lo deja salir todo y se defiende de aquellos que lo llamarían débil, no probado, indigno e impotente ... pero al final sabe que es una tontería promocionarse a sí mismo e invoca su carácter y acciones para demostrar lo contrario.
●Esto también debe aplicarse a Jesús. Ya sabes, la gente dice todo tipo de cosas sobre Jesús. Quién era y quién no era ... que Él es esto o Él es aquello ... pero lea el relato de cómo era. Lee sus propias palabras. Míralo en el registro de su ministerio terrenal. A quién le importa lo que digan ... ve y averígualo tú mismo. Jesús dijo: "¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?" Y sus discípulos respondieron con todo tipo de cosas ... Entonces Él les dijo: "¿Pero quién decís que soy?" Porque eso es todo lo que importa para ti, ¿verdad?
●Aquellos que realmente lo buscan ... será tal como Pablo dijo aquí acerca de sí mismo, Él se manifestará completamente entre ustedes en todas las cosas ... y luego llegarán al punto en el que no les importará lo que se diga de Él ... ya saben El mismo.
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Versos 7 – 12
●Versículo 7 - Hubo algunos que dijeron: “¿Cómo puedes escucharlo? ¡Ni siquiera te cobra por su material! ¿Cómo podría ser bueno?
●Pablo los llama a la envidia allí mismo. Nos odian porque quieren ser nosotros, ¡algo así! Pero no están dispuestos a soportar la humildad ... ¡no están dispuestos a hacer lo que haremos!
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Versos 13 – 15
●Es algo así como una declaración impactante y una que a menudo se cita. Que Satanás, el enemigo, se transformará a menudo en un ángel de luz. No creo que si viéramos a Satanás nos disgustaríamos ... Creo que sería todo lo contrario. El más hermoso de los ángeles ... pero todo lo que quiere hacer y todo lo que va a hacer es robar, matar y destruir. Entonces, ¿cómo podemos tener alguna posibilidad de identificar cuándo algo es del enemigo? No podemos confiar en nuestros sentidos ... ¡debemos conocer la Palabra de Dios! Debemos conocer al Único Dios Verdadero para identificar adecuadamente y protegernos contra el principal dios falso ...
●Paul dice aquí que el disfraz se revela al final de acuerdo con sus obras, pero para mí ... ¡y escucha, para ti, eso es demasiado tarde! El final del camino es un callejón sin salida, destrucción en el peor de los casos y tiempo perdido en el mejor ... en verdad, la iglesia en Corinto debería haber rechazado a estos falsos maestros en el momento en que comenzaron a embolsar a Pablo y ciertamente tan pronto como torcieron el evangelio ... pero Pablo dice, extrañe todo eso ... aún verá ... pero le costará. Los defectos y problemas no identificados no mejoran con el tiempo ... lo mejor es ser agudo ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Versos 16 – 21
●¿Por qué abrazamos tan fácilmente a los duros maestros como la crueldad, la ira, la lujuria, la ira, el egoísmo, el materialismo ... y, sin embargo, es una batalla para nosotros estar bajo el mando del Maestro Único que nos ama y nos libera? Realmente un misterio de esta naturaleza caída!
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Verso 22
●¡Me encanta esto! Dios es el gran ecualizador! En otras partes de las Escrituras, específicamente en Gálatas 3:28, se nos dice que no hay judíos ni gentiles, que hablan de etnicidad, no hay división de raza ... ni esclavos ni libres, que hablan de división de clases, ricos o pobres ... ni hay hombres y mujeres ... que habla de igualdad de género ... porque todos ustedes son uno en Cristo Jesús. No hay raza del hombre más importante para Dios que ninguna otra. Los ricos no son más importantes para Dios que los pobres. Los hombres no son más importantes para Dios que las mujeres. Dios es el gran igualador y la verdad se encuentra en él. No importa lo que eres, quién eres, de qué color eres o qué tienes, eres igual a cualquier otra persona y cada otra persona es igual a ti ... Si te sientes diferente, entonces estás equivocado ... y ministrando quizás por el Dios equivocado ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Versos 23 – 28
●Esto es interesante ... ¿cómo mide Pablo su lealtad, su pertenencia a Cristo ... cómo se lo demuestra a sí mismo y aquí a los demás ...? El grado en que ha sufrido. Y hombre, esta es la verdad. ¡Puedes obtener un buen indicador de tu fe por cuánto te toma voltear a la carne! Cinco veces Pablo recibió 39 latigazos de los judíos. 195 veces el látigo ha sido puesto sobre él ... ¿cómo crees que era su espalda? Llevaba las marcas de seguir a Cristo y para eso tenía la seguridad en sí mismo de simplemente decir todo lo que venía en su contra, incluidos sus propios problemas internos (que está a punto de abordar) para retroceder.
●Gálatas 6:17, "De ahora en adelante nadie me moleste, porque yo llevo en mi cuerpo las marcas del Señor Jesús". Una vez que sufres, no tus sentimientos ... no tu orgullo ... Quiero decir, sufre, hombre ... cuando tu carne se apacienta ... ¡es cuando aprendes que Cristo es suficiente! Aquí hay un ejemplo de su dolor interno ... que aunque es real, no puede detenerlo ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Verso 29
●A menudo se hizo tropezar a Pablo, especialmente por la Iglesia en Corinto. Tropezar en su corazón de corazones directamente hacia el desánimo, la ira, la frustración ... pero cuando se trataba de cómo él estaba entre ellos ... gentil. Eso es un sufrimiento intenso en la carne justo allí ... Prefiero recibir una paliza física que ser apuñalado por la espalda por aquellos que amo ... ¿y tú? Considera, Jesús soportó tanto por mí ... y nunca me dejó.
2 Corintios Capítulo 11 Versos 30 - 33
●Finalmente, Pablo los lleva a lo que es correcto presumis ... todas las maravillosas formas en que Dios te ha llevado ... ¡Todas las cosas increíbles que ha hecho específicamente para ti en tu vida! ¿No tiene mucho de qué presumir? ¡Quizás es hora de comenzar a confiar en Él! ¡Comienza a servir a Dios! Mire a lo que recurre Paul cuando recurre a lo que realmente se enorgullece de presumis ... una circunstancia en la que estaba sirviendo al Señor ... y surgieron dificultades ...
●¿Estás en un lugar difícil ahora? Dios sabe que nuestro mundo es ... servir al Señor. Vuélvete a Él ... no solo fue El Salvador, sino que aún lo es hoy ... y Su deseo, como un buen padre, es salvarte.
