Revelation 21 vs 9-27

Revelation Chapter 21 Verse 9
•“Seven, seven, seven,” why? Because it’s all complete! It’s all perfect, it’s all done! And this angel now reveals to John (and to us through John) the perfect palatial peaceful picture of what Jesus purposed in His heart and accomplished on the cross as He took away my sin.
•And, two words here translated for us as “bride,” and “wife,” while both words, while different, can also be translated, “the betrothed.” Why is the New Jerusalem, the perfect city where God Himself dwells alongside of all people for all of eternity, why is it called the bride and the wife of Christ? Because it is the place for the people of God, where all of the people of God of all generations are joined to Him forever.
•This is why Jesus gave Himself on the cross. For her. For His bride. For you and for me. He let Himself go, He suffered not just for 6 hours on the cross, but for 33 years… He lowered Himself. He served His love…so that she, you and me would enter into a betrothal, a promise, to be made well and to be with Him. This is His prize. This is His reward. It’s you and it’s me. This is, you and I are, and were, His reason…
•And why do I go into that? Well, for the understanding of why this place is called His betrothed…but also to encourage you, Galatians 6:9 says, “Don’t grow weary while doing good.” Don’t give up. Don’t let your faith fail. Your strength. As Jesus for 33 years and through the moments of one of His closest friends, Judas, betraying Him to His face, and through the hour of testing in the Garden of Gethsemane, and through the 40 days of being bombarded by the devil in the wilderness and through the 6 excruciating hours on the cross… He held His ground. He didn’t allow Himself to fail. Why? All for her. For you and for me…
•Stay the course! Finish strong! Do it for your bride, do it for your hubs. Do it for your children. Do it because you love them. They’re so messed up and they/I can be so hurtful and sometimes we all get seemingly on edge that all is almost lost…Jesus lived on that edge for 33 years! Don’t give up! Don’t allow yourself to fail! Galatians 6:9 continues, “For in due season you, me, we shall reap if we do not lose heart!” Suffering may endure for a season, just as it did for Jesus…but now He is faced with a new home, a new bride, an everlasting season of beauty! That’s also why the new city is called His “bride,” because it is beautiful!
•Don’t give up…and if you have been failing, stop your failing now. Seek the Lord, get your orders, keep your eyes on the coming reward which God has promised (Galatians 6:9), and endure the season. Here’s the good news… When you set your internal resolution-clock to do that, the power to do it arrives…because God honors that. It reminds Him of His Son…
Revelation Chapter 21 Verses 10 – 11
•Notice, it is from the vantage point of the Spirit that the glory of God is seen. All that is wonderful, good, the right path and the right way to bring about life, you can’t see that in the flesh! John is taken in the Spirit!
•When you trust the Lord and fix your eyes on Him, and for that intensely difficult season…you endure, the outcome…the result…the reward…will be filled with the glory of God both in your life and within you.
•What does that mean? To be filled with the glory of God… What does it mean when we pray, “God, please be glorified?” Simply that God would be known, understood, honored, revealed, experienced! That the spotlight would go onto Him and when God is glorified in your life, joy surges! Strength surges! Faith surges!
•There’s a Psalm that speaks of surging in faith…being filled with faith and in that it speaks of intense gladness… Psalm 45:6, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter (speaking of authority and rule and majesty) a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than your companions.” Ever try to wash oil off…it’s tough! And this trusting the Lord and enduring the season and glorifying God, you will end up all oiled-up in gladness!
•And things come, the world comes, trials come, future difficulties come and that oil is a protectant, a barrier, and it does not easily wash off… Now, imagine if you had cycle upon cycle of glorifying God in your life… See now how some can endure so very much and yet retain such strength of faith and hope and joy? They are well oiled machines, man!
•And so, John sees the city filled and over-laid and just beaming with the glory of God! Jasper stone is a beautiful, dense, diamond like stone but it’s almost never, in fact naturally is never “clear as crystal.” It’s typically spotted or tinted or streaked but this is something like we have never seen before. The radiance of jasper, clear as crystal, precious and perfect. Just like us, man…naturally we will never be radiant, we will never be clear…but 2 Cor 5:17…God can do that…and listen, if today you are a Christian, HE HAS DONE THAT!
Revelation Chapter 21 Verses 12 – 14
•Regardless of what you’ve heard, there is no mention of Peter at the gates of heaven…however this is pretty neat, just like we saw with the 24 elders (Revelation 4), and really why I believe them to represent the entire church, we see here the bringing together, the completion, the marrying of the Old Testament and the New Testament characters into the bride of Christ with the names of the 12 tribes upon the 12 gates and the names of the 12 apostles upon the 12 foundations.
•Now, interesting and important, the church is also referred to or compared to in the scriptures as the bride of Christ…and now we see the full revelation that the church is inclusive of all the saints, both from the Old Testament and the New… But, the reason I bring that up is to make the point, the gates…what protects the church today and the foundations…the pedigree or purity of the church today, it must be as it is revealed here.
•The educational protection of understanding the law and the prophets as illustrated by the gates bearing the names of the 12 tribes, and the church must be built upon the foundation of the apostles.
•Ephesians 2:19-22, “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” If the church, religion, movement, your personal faith…isn’t built on the foundations provided by God then it isn’t His house. Very clear.
•Why do I bring that up? Because there are many offerings out there that masquerade as Christianity but they are built on new foundations…some very recent…and not seen or heard from the apostles of scripture. So be careful that you and I build wisely lest it all come tumbling down.
•There’s also something to be said here, just briefly, about marriage. As the New Jerusalem is called the bride of Christ and Jesus is referred to as the husband or bridegroom in several parts of scripture. Notice, she has all around protection. She is fortified. On every side the city, the relationship, is protected. Jesus did it and the bride did it. These are the tribes of God and yet these are her gates. There is a partnership in protecting the purity of a relationship and that is super important even in your marriage. If you’re coasting, if you’re just living, if you’re not praying, if you’re not pursuing…then you are not protecting. Fortify your city…protect your marriages by protecting and loving each other.
•Likewise, the foundation is comprised of those sent out by God. The apostles…let the foundation of your marriage be the Word of God and what God thinks on the matter of all matters. Seek the Lord, pursue the Lord, love the Lord and you will have a thriving marriage…in seeking Him, you will seek her…or him. In pursuing Jesus, you will find yourself pursuing your wife, pursuing your husband…in loving the Lord you will enjoy loving your spouse.
•It never ever ever fails…show me a wife or a husband that does not seek the Lord and I will show you a spouse that does not seek the best for their earthly beloved. Show me a spouse that does not pursue Jesus and I will show you a spouse that no longer pursues his/her partner. A marriage lacking in love towards each other is a manifestation of one or two people who are lacking in love towards Jesus….every time.
Revelation Chapter 21 Verses 15 – 16
•And so it’s actually a cube, (this great city, our home town), because John says here what he sees is that its length, breadth and height are all equal. Now 12,000 furlongs is about 1,500 miles and so this New Jerusalem is roughly 3.4 billion cubic miles! Huge. But not too huge…remember, Matthew 7:14 Jesus said, enter by the narrow gate because narrow is the path and difficult is the way which leads to life…few will find it…in the history of the world, scholars estimate that there have been over 100 billion people that have been born, lived and died…
•100 billion living amongst each other in roughly 3.5 billion cubic miles would give everyone about 180 cubic feet of living space…not much when you consider Jesus spoke of mansions…even your home today is probably more than 1,000 square feet…180 cubic feet would be about the size of a living room or bedroom…even apply the parable of the sower type of a percentage, 25% and you arrive at only 700 cubic feet per…still seems pretty slim if we’re talking mansions…
•According to wisegeek.com (so it’s gotta be right), “Most often, any home that is 6,000 square feet or more, and that has various elements associated with wealth, like pleasure grounds, home theaters, bowling alleys or extensive adult recreation rooms, would be called a mansion.” Apply that kind of number, 6,000 square foot home + maybe conservatively another 1,000 square foot of space and allocate about ¾ of a cubic mile per home…. lots of land and you come up with a total population of about 3.5B spots…(using the air as well…like layers – no reason not to assume that is possible in the New Jerusalem). That’s less than 4 percent of the history of the world’s population…
•Is that the right number? I don’t know, all I do know is this, that many think they’ve got an address within this city, but according to Jesus, few…sobering…makes you take a step back and survey your life, your heart, your activities because you do what you like…what comes out of your mouth is what is in your heart…and John was clear in writing his epistles, his letters, 1 John 1:6, “If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth…”
•But he goes on to say in the next verse, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin…” and if that’s you, then this is home…
Revelation Chapter 21 Verses 17 – 21
•Notice, what man values are simple building materials of the life to come. What is valuable in the City of God? You.
Revelation Chapter 21 Verses 22 - 27
•John sees perfection. The perfect place for the perfected bride…all because of the perfect sacrifice. We need to take in this picture…because we get so wrapped up in our day, so wrapped up in the cares of this world and the minute we take our focus off of eternity and get caught up in the present world, like Peter on the water, we begin to sink…and very quickly we’re underwater with stress, anxiety, anger, frustration, worry, depression, making all kinds of unwise decisions because, and you don’t even see this man, you’re growing or have grown desperate.
•Desperate for comfort, desperate for love, desperate for respect, desperate for entertainment, desperate for more…more of what? You don’t even know…just more…but think upon home, man…the extent to which you set your heart on things above is the extent to which you will be free from defeat and discouragement. Open your heart, focus your mind…
•Colossians 3:1-4, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”

Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículo 9
· “Siete, siete, siete”, ¿por qué? ¡Porque está todo completo! ¡Está todo perfecto, ya está todo hecho! Y este ángel ahora le revela a Juan (y a nosotros a través de Juan) la perfecta imagen palaciega y pacífica de lo que Jesús se propuso en Su corazón y logró en la cruz al quitar mi pecado.
· Y, dos palabras aquí traducidas para nosotros como "novia" y "esposa", mientras que ambas palabras, aunque diferentes, también pueden traducirse como "la prometida". ¿Por qué la Nueva Jerusalén es la ciudad perfecta donde Dios mismo mora junto a todos los pueblos por toda la eternidad, por qué se le llama la novia y la esposa de Cristo? Porque es el lugar del pueblo de Dios, donde todo el pueblo de Dios de todas las generaciones está unido a Él para siempre.
· Por eso Jesús se entregó en la cruz. Para ella. Para Su novia. Para ti y para mi. Se dejó ir, sufrió no sólo durante 6 horas en la cruz, sino durante 33 años... Se rebajó. Sirvió a su amor... para que ella, tú y yo entráramos en un compromiso matrimonial, en una promesa, para ser sanados y estar con Él. Este es Su premio. Esta es Su recompensa. Eres tú y soy yo. Esta es, tú y yo somos, y fuimos, Su razón…
· ¿Y por qué entro en eso? Bueno, para que se entienda por qué este lugar se llama Su prometida… pero también para animaros, Gálatas 6:9 dice: “No os canséis de hacer el bien”. No te rindas No dejes que tu fe falle. Tu fuerza. Como Jesús durante 33 años y a través de los momentos de uno de Sus amigos más cercanos, Judas, traicionándolo en Su rostro, y durante la hora de la prueba en el Huerto de Getsemaní, y durante los 40 días de ser bombardeado por el diablo en el desierto. Y a través de las 6 horas insoportables en la cruz... Él se mantuvo firme. Él no se permitió fallar. ¿Por qué? Todo por ella. Para ti y para mi…
· ¡Mantener el rumbo! ¡Terminar fuerte! Hazlo por tu novia, hazlo por tu esposo. Hazlo por tus hijos. Hazlo porque los amas. Están tan en mal estado y ellos/yo podemos ser tan hirientes y, a veces, todos nos ponemos aparentemente al límite de que todo está casi perdido... ¡Jesús vivió al límite durante 33 años! ¡No te rindas! ¡No te permitas fallar! Gálatas 6:9 continúa: “¡Porque a su tiempo tú, yo, segaremos si no desmayamos!” El sufrimiento puede soportar por una temporada, tal como lo hizo con Jesús... ¡pero ahora se enfrenta a un nuevo hogar, una nueva novia, una eterna temporada de belleza! Por eso también la nueva ciudad se llama Su “novia”, ¡porque es hermosa!
· No te rindas... y si has estado fallando, deja de fallar ahora. Busca al Señor, recibe tus órdenes, mantén tus ojos en la recompensa venidera que Dios ha prometido (Gálatas 6:9), y soporta la estación. Estas son las buenas noticias... Cuando configuras tu reloj de resolución interno para hacer eso, llega el poder para hacerlo... porque Dios honra eso. Le recuerda a Su Hijo...
Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículos 10 – 11
· Note, es desde el punto de vista del Espíritu que se ve la gloria de Dios. Todo eso es maravilloso, bueno, el camino correcto y la forma correcta de generar vida, ¡no puedes verlo en la carne! ¡Juan es tomado en el Espíritu!
· Cuando confías en el Señor y fijas tus ojos en Él, y durante esa temporada intensamente difícil... que soportas, el resultado... el resultado... la recompensa... será llena de la gloria de Dios tanto en tu vida como dentro de ti.
· ¿Qué significa eso? Ser llenos de la gloria de Dios… ¿Qué significa cuando oramos, “Dios, por favor se glorificado?” ¡Simplemente que Dios sea conocido, comprendido, honrado, revelado, experimentado! Que el centro de atención sea Él y cuando Dios sea glorificado en tu vida, ¡la alegría surja! ¡Fuerza surge! ¡La fe surge!
· Hay un Salmo que habla de crecer en la fe... estar lleno de fe y en eso habla de una alegría intensa... Salmo 45:6, “Tu trono, oh Dios, es eterno y para siempre; un cetro (hablando de autoridad y dominio y majestad) un cetro de justicia es el cetro de Tu reino. Amas la justicia y aborreces la maldad; Por eso te ungió Dios, el Dios tuyo, Con aceite de alegría más que a tus compañeros. ¿Alguna vez has intentado lavar el aceite? ¡Es difícil! Y esto de confiar en el Señor y soportar la temporada y glorificar a Dios, ¡terminarás todo aceitado de alegría!
· Y vienen las cosas, viene el mundo, vienen las pruebas, vienen las dificultades futuras y ese aceite es un protector, una barrera, y no se quita fácilmente… Ahora, imagina si tuvieras ciclo tras ciclo de glorificar a Dios en tu vida... ¿Ves ahora cómo algunos pueden soportar tanto y, sin embargo, retener tanta fuerza de fe, esperanza y gozo? ¡Son máquinas bien engrasadas, hombre!
· ¡Y así, Juan ve la ciudad llena y revestida y resplandeciente con la gloria de Dios! La piedra de jaspe es una piedra hermosa, densa, parecida al diamante, pero casi nunca, de hecho, naturalmente, nunca es "clara como el cristal". Por lo general, está manchado, teñido o rayado, pero esto es algo que nunca antes habíamos visto. El resplandor del jaspe, claro como el cristal, precioso y perfecto. Así como nosotros, hombre…naturalmente nunca seremos radiantes, nunca seremos claros…pero 2 Cor 5:17…Dios puede hacer eso…y escucha, si hoy eres cristiano, ¡ÉL LO HA HECHO!
Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículos 12 – 14
· Independientemente de lo que haya escuchado, no se menciona de Pedro a las puertas del cielo... sin embargo, esto es bastante claro, tal como lo vimos con los 24 ancianos (Apocalipsis 4), y realmente por qué creo que representan a toda la iglesia, vemos aquí la unión, la terminación, el casamiento de los personajes del Antiguo Testamento y del Nuevo Testamento en la novia de Cristo con los nombres de las 12 tribus sobre las 12 puertas y los nombres de los 12 apóstoles sobre los 12 cimientos .
· Ahora, interesante e importante, la iglesia también es referida o comparada en las escrituras como la novia de Cristo... y ahora vemos la revelación completa de que la iglesia incluye a todos los santos, tanto del Antiguo como del Nuevo Testamento. … Pero, la razón por la que menciono eso es para resaltar el punto, las puertas… lo que protege a la iglesia hoy y los cimientos… el pedigrí o la pureza de la iglesia hoy, debe ser como se revela aquí.
· La protección educativa de la comprensión de la ley y los profetas como lo ilustran las puertas que llevan los nombres de las 12 tribus, y la iglesia debe ser edificada sobre el fundamento de los apóstoles.
· Efesios 2:19-22, “Ahora, pues, ya no sois extraños ni advenedizos, sino conciudadanos de los santos y miembros de la familia de Dios, edificados sobre el fundamento de los apóstoles y profetas, siendo la principal piedra del ángulo Jesucristo mismo, en quien todo el edificio, bien coordinado, va creciendo para ser un templo santo en el Señor, en quien también vosotros sois juntamente edificados para morada de Dios en el Espíritu”. Si la iglesia, la religión, el movimiento, tu fe personal… no está edificada sobre los cimientos provistos por Dios, entonces no es Su casa. Muy claro.
· ¿Por qué menciono eso? Porque hay muchas ofrendas por ahí que se disfrazan de cristianismo, pero están construidas sobre nuevos cimientos... algunas muy recientes... y no se ven ni se escuchan de los apóstoles de las Escrituras. Así que tenga cuidado de que usted y yo construyamos sabiamente para que nada se derrumbe.
· También hay algo que decir aquí, solo brevemente, sobre el matrimonio. Como la Nueva Jerusalén se llama la novia de Cristo y Jesús se menciona como el esposo o el novio en varias partes de las Escrituras., ella Noten, ella tiene toda la protección alrededor. Ella está fortificada. Por todos lados se protege la ciudad, la relación, está protegida. Jesús lo hizo y la novia lo hizo. Estas son las tribus de Dios y, sin embargo, estas son sus puertas. Existe una asociación para proteger la pureza de una relación y eso es muy importante incluso en su matrimonio. Si estás despreocupado, si solo estás viviendo, si no estás orando, si no estás persiguiendo... entonces no estás protegiendo. Fortalezcan su ciudad... protejan sus matrimonios protegiéndose y amándose unos a otros.
· Asimismo, la fundación se compone de los enviados por Dios. Los apóstoles…dejen que el fundamento, los cimientos de su matrimonio sea la Palabra de Dios y lo que Dios piensa sobre el asunto de todos los asuntos. Busque al Señor, vaya hacia Él, persiga al Señor, ame al Señor y tendrá un matrimonio próspero... al buscarlo a Él, la buscará a ella... o a él. Al buscar a Jesús, te encontrarás buscando a tu esposa, buscando a tu esposo… al amar al Señor disfrutarás amar a tu cónyuge.
· Nunca, jamás, jamás falla…muéstrame una esposa o un esposo que busque al Señor y yo te mostraré un esposo que busque lo mejor para su amado terrenal. Muéstrame un cónyuge que no persigue a Jesús y te mostraré un cónyuge que ya no persigue a su pareja. Un matrimonio de falta de amor el uno hacia el otro es una manifestación de una o dos personas que carecen de amor hacia Jesús... todo el tiempo.
Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículos 15 – 16
· Y entonces es en realidad un cubo (esta gran ciudad, nuestra ciudad natal), porque John dice aquí que lo que ve es que su largo, ancho y alto son todos iguales. ¡Ahora, 12,000 estadios son aproximadamente 1,500 millas, por lo que esta Nueva Jerusalén tiene aproximadamente 3,400 millones de millas cúbicas! Enorme. Pero no demasiado grande... recuerda, Mateo 7:14 Jesús dijo, entrad por la puerta estrecha porque angosto es el camino y angosto el camino que lleva a la vida... pocos la encontrarán... en la historia del mundo, los eruditos estiman que hay han sido más de 100 mil millones de personas las que han nacido, vivido y muerto…
· 100 mil millones viviendo entre sí en aproximadamente 3.5 mil millones de millas cúbicas le daría a cada uno alrededor de 180 pies cúbicos de espacio habitable... no mucho cuando consideras que Jesús habló de mansiones... incluso tu hogar hoy en día es probablemente más de 1,000 pies cuadrados... 180 pies cúbicos sea del tamaño de una sala de estar o de un dormitorio... incluso aplique la parábola del tipo sembrador de un porcentaje, 25% y llega a solo 700 pies cúbicos ... todavía parece bastante bajo si estamos hablando de mansiones...
· De acuerdo con wisegeek.com (así que tiene que ser correcto), "La mayoría de las veces, cualquier hogar que tenga 6,000 pies cuadrados o más, y que tenga varios elementos asociados con la riqueza, como lugares de recreo, cine en casa, pistas de bolos o habitaciones de recreación extensa para adultos, se llamaría una mansión.” Aplique ese tipo de número, casa de 6,000 pies cuadrados + tal vez de manera conservadora otros 1,000 pies cuadrados de espacio y asigne alrededor de ¾ de milla cúbica por hogar... mucha tierra y obtienes una población total de alrededor de 3.500 millones de puntos... (utilizando el aire también... como capas, no hay razón para no suponer que eso es posible en la Nueva Jerusalén). Eso es menos del 4 por ciento de la historia de la población mundial...
· ¿Es ese el número correcto? No sé, lo único que sé es esto, que muchos piensan que tienen una dirección aquí dentro de esta ciudad, pero según Jesús, pocos... siendo más cuidadoso en seleccionar... te hace dar un paso atrás y examina tu vida, tu corazón, tus actividades porque haces lo que te gusta…lo que sale de tu boca es lo que está en tu corazón…y Juan fue claro al escribir sus epístolas, sus cartas, 1 Juan 1:6, “Si decimos que tenemos comunión con él, y andamos en tinieblas, mentimos y no practicamos la verdad…”
· Pero continúa diciendo en el siguiente versículo: “Pero si andamos en luz, como él está en luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de Jesucristo su Hijo nos limpia de todo pecado…” y si ese eres tú, entonces este es tu hogar...

Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículos 17 – 21
· Fíjate, lo que el hombre valora son simples materiales de construcción de la vida venidera. ¿Qué es valioso en la Ciudad de Dios? Ustedes.
Apocalipsis Capítulo 21 Versículos 22 - 27
· Juan ve la perfección. El lugar perfecto para la novia perfeccionada... todo gracias al sacrificio perfecto. Necesitamos tomar esta imagen... porque estamos tan envueltos en nuestro día, tan envueltos en los afanes de este mundo y en el momento en que dejamos de enfocarnos en la eternidad y quedamos atrapados en el mundo presente, como Pedro en el agua, nos empezamos a hundir… y muy rápidamente estamos bajo el agua con estrés, ansiedad, ira, frustración, preocupación, depresión, tomando todo tipo de decisiones imprudentes porque, y ni siquiera te das cuenta de esto, hombre, estás creciendo o se han vuelto desesperados.
· Desesperado por comodidad, desesperado por amor, desesperado por respeto, desesperado por entretenimiento, desesperado por más... ¿más de qué? Ni siquiera sabes... sólo más... pero piensa en casa, hombre... en la medida en que pongas tu corazón en las cosas de arriba es en la medida en que estarás libre de la derrota y el desánimo. Abre tu corazón, enfoca tu mente...
· Colosenses 3:1-4, “Así que ya no sois extraños ni advenedizos, sino conciudadanos de los santos y miembros de la familia de Dios, edificados sobre el fundamento de los apóstoles y profetas, Jesucristo mismo. siendo la principal piedra del ángulo, en quien todo el edificio, bien coordinado, va creciendo para ser un templo santo en el Señor, en quien vosotros también sois juntamente edificados para morada de Dios en el Espíritu.”
· ¿Tienes una dirección aquí?
