1 Peter 2 vs 1-10

“I do not know this man.” How could he recover from that? Well, he did. And you can too. Satan wanted him muzzled, but Jesus has set him free…and even more, given him a place of absolute prominence. Welcome to grace!
1 Peter Chapter 2 Verses 1 – 3
•Peter has just finished talking about the intense importance and blessing that the Word of God is and now “therefore,” because of this, here’s how we ought to, and I might say, have to purpose to receive it.
•“Desire” is key here. In the Greek it literally means to “long” for it. As a Christian, you should have a natural desire for the Word of God. Not just to be in it but to walk in it. Just like a newborn, you don’t have to sell milk to a baby. They demand it! What does that look like? Different for each of us in ways…but Peter lays out some things that aren’t different. Some things that we all must deal with in order to not fade our desire for the Word or block our hearts from receiving it.
•These things we must address. Malice, “Kakia,” HA! Literally means “ill-will,” or desire to “injure.” Deceit, or manipulation of others. Hypocrisy, can also mean condemnation. Envy, wishing someone else wasn’t doing so well. And evil speaking, which more literally is backbiting. Peter lists these out and asks us to lay these things aside…why? Because without a willingness to do so, I can’t receive the basic nourishment of the Word of God and I can’t grow.
•All and everybody will experience these things and have to deal with them. No one is immune, for sure. But are you willing, because of the grace of God, to stand against these things within yourself…? Because look, if anyone else does it, there’s going to be a problem, there’s going to be conflict. A fight. But if you address these things within your own self, well then you are enabling your own growth and you are preparing the soil of your heart to benefit the most from the Word of God!
•Well, you may say, I’m not a newborn anymore. I don’t need milk, I need meat! Listen Randy Macho Man Salvation!!!…you never stop needing the pure milk of the Word. I’m glad that you can handle meat. But if you reject the milk, the simplicity of the Gospel of the Blood of Jesus…that the greatest of all commands, laws, and warfare is love from a pure heart…., here’s the news flash, you ain’t handling the meat of the Word like you think you are.
1 Peter Chapter 2 Verses 4 – 5
•You know there is such thing as a “living stone.” They are also known as “pebble plants.” They are teeny tiny little succulents that look like pebbles and rocks that litter the ground. They grow extremely slowly and they stay very small, hugging the ground. Quite interesting with cast in the light of Christianity!
•Peter calls you and I and himself, a “holy priesthood.” Was he perfect? (“I do not know this Man”) Far from it…but he still walks into this title not through his personal goodness and performance towards Jesus but through Jesus’ personal goodness and performance towards him. And note, a holy priesthood, that is what we are, what I am, who you are, and that means unto God, you are your own priest. No other Mediator is necessary except for the blood of Jesus Christ.
•1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” Any person or group that tries to put a step or person or process or work or ritual between you and God other than Jesus and Jesus only, is…check this out…actually removing you from God. That is serious stuff…and one that I do not expect God takes lightly.
•Notice also in what Peter says here that you and I are being formed together into some sort of something else. One brick isn’t impressive. One stone of Solomon’s Temple, not entirely impressive…but those stones were cut so precisely that they didn’t even need mortar to hold them together, they just fit…and when they were built together, the temple was nothing less than one of the world’s wonders. Precisely what God is doing in the Body of Christ, of which you all and I am importance, critical, a part of…
•Now super important and encoded in the scripture here is the blessed hope of the work and responsibility of the Holy Spirit. God does the building! We read that we and you and I and the Christian and the church, this church, it is and we are “being built up” and for what purpose? To offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
•How do you know you’re built after time in the Gym? Results, right? Big Pecs! Well in terms of spiritual maturity, in terms of a church, a community of believers, the body of Christ, how do we know that many/we are getting built!? Spiritual sacrifices are flowing!! Wait, what are they?
•Flesh second, spirit first. That’s it…simplest way to say it. Some examples. The fruit of the Spirit is flowing, man. Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, self-control. Love man is the rule and Jesus is the King! Yea my flesh rages but Jesus is my stronger! And not perfectly but imperfectly perfectly over time I and you and us and we and this church begin to bear the aroma of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Willing to go to the cross for God first and others second.
•Another example. Worship, praise, singing unto God! Hebrews 13:15-16 put both of these on display. “Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices, God is well pleased.”
•Finally, another helpful verse is Psalm 51 verse 17, where we read, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart.” Staying little, fearing the Lord, serving each other…
1 Peter Chapter 2 Verses 6 – 8
•One thing to note about Peter is that he has a commanding knowledge of the Word of God. He quotes Isaiah, then a Psalm, then Isaiah again and what also should be noted, considered, is that quoting the scriptures and knowing the Word of God is not just to appear authoritative spiritually. In fact, that’s a complete misapplication of God’s Word. His dedication of knowledge of the scriptures allows him to piece together profound truths and expressed understandings!
•He takes these scriptures and he places them transparently upon the life and Person of Jesus Christ and arrives at a universal law of existence. That to believe on Jesus, to “know this Man,” is the key to standing upright in heart, mind, soul and strength…and to reject Jesus is to guarantee a life (or a situation) of confusion and stumbling. Either way, Jesus will be, because He is, the chief cornerstone of every life at its base component…
•And notice, “Therefore to you who believe,” is joined with, “They stumble, being disobedient to the word.” And so, are you walking in belief? Answer, is your desire, intent, resolve and reality to apply and follow the Word of God?
1 Peter Chapter 2 Verses 9 – 10
•Why choose Jesus? Because Jesus chose you. It’s as simple as that. We and you and I were not a people, no home, no hope, no options…and God not only made a way but He catapulted me into a place and position and person of great importance…even royalty as Peter says here.
•Peter originally called you and I a “holy priesthood,” but now that progressively reveals a bit as he calls you and I a “royal priesthood.” Why? Because as you walk with the Lord, holiness is simply that, we rise, grow up, transform to be who God wants us to be, set apart kings and queens, different, even foreign from this world…. Reacting differently, thinking differently, understanding differently, loving differently, showing and flowing God’s grace through our lives.
•Once in darkness, now brought into marvelous light! Once not even a people, but now of royal order…and what does a true king or a true queen do…we proclaim the praises of God! Even if you’ve come from a life or a season of, “I don’t know this Man,” doesn’t matter… Just like Peter, receive God’s grace!



"No conozco a este hombre". ¿Cómo podría recuperarse de eso? Bueno, lo hizo. Y tú también puedes. Satanás quería que lo amordazaran, pero Jesús lo ha liberado... y más aún, dándole un lugar de absoluta prominencia. ¡Bienvenido a la gracia!
1 Pedro Capítulo 2 Versículos 1– 3
· Pedro acaba de terminar de hablar sobre la intensa importancia y bendición que es la Palabra de Dios y ahora "por lo tanto", debido a esto, así es como debemos, y podría decir, tener el propósito de recibirla.
· El "deseo" es clave aquí. En el griego significa literalmente "anhelar" por ello. Como cristiano, debes tener un deseo natural por la Palabra de Dios. No solo para estar en ella, sino para caminar en ella. Al igual que un recién nacido, no se le tiene que vender leche a un bebé. ¡Lo exigen! ¿Cómo se ve eso? Diferente para cada uno de nosotros en formas... pero Pedro expone algunas cosas que no son diferentes. Algunas cosas con las que todos debemos lidiar para no desvanecer nuestro deseo de la Palabra o bloquear nuestros corazones para que no la reciban.
· Estas cosas debemos abordarlas. Malicia, "Kakia", ¡JA! Literalmente significa "mala voluntad" o deseo de "herir". Engaño o manipulación a otros. La hipocresía, también puede significar condena. Envidia, desear que alguien no le vaya tan bien. Y hablando mal, que más literalmente es murmurar de alguien. Pedro los enumera y nos pide que dejemos estas cosas a un lado... ¿por qué? Porque sin la voluntad de hacerlo, no puedo recibir el alimento básico de la Palabra de Dios y no puedo crecer.
· Todos y cada uno experimentarán estas cosas y tendrán que lidiar con ellas. Nadie es inmune, seguro. Pero, ¿estás dispuesto, debido a la gracia de Dios, a levantarte en contra de estas cosas dentro de ti mismo...? Porque mira, si alguien más lo hace, va a haber un problema, va a haber conflicto. Una pelea. ¡Pero si abordas estas cosas dentro de tu propio ser, entonces estás permitiendo tu propio crecimiento y estás preparando el suelo de tu corazón para beneficiarte al máximo de la Palabra de Dios!
· Bueno, puedes decir, ya no soy un recién nacido. ¡No necesito leche, necesito carne! Escucha Randy Macho Man Salvation!!! ... nunca dejes de necesitar la leche pura de la Palabra. Me alegro de que puedas manejar carne. Pero si rechazas la leche, la sencillez del Evangelio de la Sangre de Jesús... que el más grande de todos los mandamientos, leyes y guerra es el amor de un corazón puro..., aquí está el flash de noticias, no estás manejando la carne de la Palabra como crees que lo tu que lo estas manejando.

1 Pedro Capítulo 2 Versículos 4– 5
· Sabes que existe tal cosa como una "piedra viva". También se les conoce como "plantas de guijarros". Son pequeñas suculentas diminutas que parecen guijarros y rocas que ensucian el suelo. Crecen extremadamente lentamente y se mantienen muy pequeños, abrazando el suelo. ¡Bastante interesante con el lanzamiento a la luz del cristianismo!
· Pedro te llama a ti y a mí y a él mismo, un "sacerdocio santo". ¿Era el perfecto? ("No conozco a este hombre") Lejos de eso... pero todavía entra en este título no a través de su bondad personal y desempeño hacia Jesús, sino a través de la bondad personal y el desempeño de Jesús hacia él. Y nótese, un sacerdocio santo, eso es lo que somos, lo que yo soy, quién eres tú, y eso significa para Dios, tú eres tu propio sacerdote. Ningún otro Mediador es necesario excepto la sangre de Jesucristo.
· 1 Timoteo 2:5 dice: "Porque hay un solo Dios y un solo Mediador entre Dios y los hombres, el Hombre Cristo Jesús". Cualquier persona o grupo que trate de poner un paso o persona o proceso o trabajo o ritual entre usted y Dios que no sea Jesús y Jesús solamente, es... Mira esto... en realidad te aleja de Dios. Eso es algo serio... y algo que no espero que Dios lo tome a la ligera.
· Note también en lo que Pedro dice aquí que tú y yo estamos siendo formados juntos en algún tipo de otra cosa. Un ladrillo no es impresionante. Una piedra del Templo de Salomón, no del todo impresionante... pero esas piedras fueron cortadas con tanta precisión que ni siquiera necesitaban mortero para mantenerlas unidas, solo encajaban ... y cuando se construyeron juntos, el templo era nada menos que una de las maravillas del mundo. Precisamente lo que Dios está haciendo en el Cuerpo de Cristo, del cual todos ustedes y yo somos importantes, críticos, parte de...
· Ahora súper importante y codificado en las Escrituras aquí está la bendita esperanza de la obra y la responsabilidad del Espíritu Santo. ¡Dios hace el edificación! Leemos que nosotros y tú y yo y el cristiano y la iglesia, esta iglesia, es y estamos "siendo edificados" y ¿con qué propósito? Ofrecer sacrificios espirituales aceptables a Dios a través de Jesucristo.
· ¿Cómo sabes que estás fortalecido y edificado fisicamente después de un tiempo en el gimnasio? Resultados, ¿verdad? ¡Pectorales grandes! Bueno, en términos de madurez espiritual, en términos de una iglesia, una comunidad de creyentes, el cuerpo de Cristo, ¿cómo sabemos que muchos / nosotros estamos siendo construidos? ¡¡Los sacrificios espirituales están fluyendo!! Espera, ¿qué son?
· Carne en segundo lugar, espíritu primero. Eso es todo... la forma más sencilla de decirlo. Algunos ejemplos. El fruto del Espíritu fluye, hombre. Amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, bondad, bondad, fidelidad, autocontrol. ¡El amor al hombre es la regla y Jesús es el Rey! Sí, mi carne se enfurece, ¡pero Jesús es mi más fuerte! Y no perfectamente, sino imperfectamente perfectamente con el tiempo, yo y tú y nosotros y nosotros esta iglesia comenzamos a llevar el aroma del sacrificio de Jesucristo. Dispuesto a ir a la cruz por Dios primero y otros por el segundo.
· Otro ejemplo. ¡Adoración, alabanza, canto a Dios! Hebreos 13:15-16 puso ambos en exhibición. "Por lo tanto, por Él ofrezcamos continuamente el sacrificio de alabanza a Dios, es decir, el fruto de nuestros labios, dando gracias a su nombre. Pero no os olvidéis de hacer el bien y de compartir, porque con tales sacrificios, Dios está bien complacido".
· Finalmente, otro versículo útil es el Salmo 51 versículo 17, donde leemos: "Los sacrificios de Dios son un espíritu quebrantado, un corazón quebrantado y contrito". Quedándonos pequeños, temiendo al Señor, sirviéndonos unos a otros...
1 Pedro Capítulo 2 Versículos 6 al 8
· Una cosa a tener en cuenta acerca de Pedro es que él tiene un conocimiento dominante de la Palabra de Dios. Él cita a Isaías, luego un Salmo, luego Isaías de nuevo y lo que también debe ser notado, considerado, es que citar las Escrituras y conocer la Palabra de Dios no es sólo parecer espiritualmente autoritario. De hecho, esa es una completa mala aplicación de la Palabra de Dios. ¡Su dedicación al conocimiento de las Escrituras le permite reconstruir verdades profundas y entendimientos expresados!
· Él toma estas escrituras y las coloca transparentemente sobre la vida y la Persona de Jesucristo y llega a una ley universal de existencia. Que creer en Jesús, "conocer a este Hombre", es la clave para mantenerse erguido en corazón, mente, alma y fuerza... y rechazar a Jesús es garantizar una vida (o una situación) de confusión y tropiezos. De cualquier manera, Jesús será, porque Él es, la piedra angular principal de cada vida en su componente base...
· Y note: "Por lo tanto, a ti que crees", se une a "Tropiezan, siendo desobedientes a la palabra". Y entonces, ¿estás caminando en la creencia? Respuesta, ¿es su deseo, intención, determinación y realidad aplicar y seguir la Palabra de Dios?


1 Pedro Capítulo 2 Versículos 9 – 10
· ¿Por qué elegir a Jesús? Porque Jesús te escogió. Es tan simple como eso. Nosotros, tú y yo no éramos un pueblo, ni un hogar, ni esperanza, ni opciones... y Dios no sólo hizo un camino, sino que me catapultó a un lugar, posición y persona de gran importancia... incluso realeza como dice Pedro aquí.
· Pedro originalmente nos llamó a ti y a mí un "sacerdocio santo", pero ahora eso se revela progresivamente un poco a medida que nos llama a ti y a mí un "sacerdocio real". ¿Por qué? Porque al caminar con el Señor, la santidad es simplemente eso, nos levantamos, crecemos, nos transformamos para ser quienes Dios quiere que seamos, reyes y reinas apartados, diferentes, incluso extranjeros de este mundo... Reaccionar de manera diferente, pensar de manera diferente, entender de manera diferente, amar de manera diferente, mostrar y fluir la gracia de Dios a través de nuestras vidas.
· ¡Una vez en la oscuridad, ahora traído a una luz maravillosa! Antes ni siquiera un pueblo, sino ahora de orden real... y qué hace un verdadero rey o una verdadera reina... ¡proclamamos las alabanzas de Dios! Incluso si has venido de una vida o una temporada de, "No conozco a este hombre", no importa... ¡Al igual que Pedro, recibe la gracia de Dios!
