1 Peter 3 vs 13-22

1 Peter Chapter 3 Verses 13 – 17
•The two key phrases that almost seem in my natural understanding to not even fit are “you are blessed,” and, “it is better,” and those don’t naturally fit for me because in both circumstances the context is suffering. What? Suffering is described as the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship… And Peter is telling you and I that we are blessed and this is better? Hard sell, man.
•But this is the 44k radio stations broadcasting, the 33k over the air signals out there right now, and it takes special equipment to be aware of, utilize and benefit from this truly natural truth. There is a happiness promised. A satisfaction prepared. A contentness hidden in wisdom and righteousness.
•For the one that will sanctify the Lord God in their heart and choose to suffer, my choice, no one else’s fault and no one is causing it but me, my choice…because I could be bitter, I could get even, I could exercise my human right to justice, but I choose rather to find out and to seek if there is something better…rather than to be like them I choose to be different, the rule and law of the spirit is that by doing so, yes I will suffer in the moment or season, but in the end it’s me who will be filled with hope, blessed and found to be in a better state. And Peter actually even talks here about shame being upon those who caused me the pain in the first place…which is nice, HA!
1 Peter Chapter 3 Verse 18
•And there’s the good news of it all right there…that’s the gospel! The feet to follow…the Leader of all truth, righteousness, peace, joy, love and power. This is His path, what we’ve already discussed. And by blazing this path, He also suffered…but look…ONCE for sins!
•What’s that mean? Practically it’s a statement of hope that the reward of faith and trust and grit for the sake of goodness in your life is the power to do it again! I don’t want to be a door mat! I hate giving my all and being taken for granted in return. I cannot tell you how many times I have experienced that in my life… But for me, this statement is a promise that it won’t be what marks my life, suffering…as I think it will be the mark of my life…but my life will be marked with blessing and betterness as I go on…because Jesus suffered ONCE…
•Spiritually that means that the work is finished! Nothing to add to it. Nothing more to do. No need for the daily, weekly, monthly, yearly mass… It is finished and sin has been defeated and so now all that is really needed is for me to look to Jesus and receive the finished work of my justification, forgivingness and redemption! Realize the reality! That by Jesus (the perfect and just) giving His life in my place, I have been brought to God and I am alive in the Spirit which means I am welcome in the near presence of the Father, having been forgiven and cleansed of all my sin by the atonement and sin payment of the Savior, Jesus Christ!
•That’s good news! That’s the Gospel! Why? Because the most-costly thing possible costs me nothing. Salvation has been given to me, free of charge, at the intense personal cost of Jesus Christ. So, nothing to achieve. Nothing to be worthy of. Nothing to live up to. Everything to gain! Eternal life secured for me and for you and simply there for the taking in the accepting of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter Chapter 3 Verses 19 – 20
•“The spirits in prison who were formerly disobedient,” “the Divine Longsuffering waited,” what does this all mean? My real answer is that I’m not entirely sure… Peter doesn’t take the next few chapters and say, “Here’s what I meant by the spirits in prison,” or, “Here’s what I meant by the Divine Longsuffering waited…,” so really, we can’t be hard-nosed about things like this but we can, through the compilation of the entirety of scripture and a bit of discussion, we can or in this case today, I can offer you perhaps a perspective.
•What we can be confident of is that within this spirit realm that we have talked about at length these past two weeks, there are issues, some sorts of problems and there is conflict to the point that patience was required on the part of God while the Ark was being built (implication is that things were that bad on the earth), and that there are spirituals (and we must conclude angels) that are reserved in some sort of prison in the spirit realm. So, what does, or perhaps better said, what could all of this mean?
•There is a co-existing invisible world. Flesh and spirit are two realms. Flesh, what you see. Spirit, what you don’t see. Heaven, you don’t see. Spirits you don’t see. And Peter says, “Spirits in prison.” It’s like Peter takes us behind the veil…to show us the really real world. The realm of the spirit…
•34 out of 66 books speak about angelic beings. The word “angel” appears 280 times throughout the Word of God. An angel is a non-corporeal being. Non-corpus. NO body. Although they can assume, as we see many times throughout the scriptures, human appearance.
•How many are there? We don’t exactly know. In Revelation 5:11, John sees ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands…well over 100M angels. You may have met one…did you know that? Hebrews 13:2 says, be careful how you treat strangers for some have entertained angels unaware…
•Satan began as an angel. He was called the anointed cherub in the OT. A very powerful, beautiful, wise and influential being who fell from his original position, his original cause. God created something very good, and acting out of his own authority, he fell. And when he did, he took as many as a third of the angels with him according to Revelation 12. And that force led by Satan became a highly organized network with rankings and titles…Eph 6: 12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” Principlaities, powers, rulers and spiritual hosts…those are levels of authority…and those are rankings…
•We see it in 1 Peter 3:22…., “angels and authorities and powers,” …and in this spiritual realm, there is great conflict. There is some group that is in some sort of prison. Ever since the fall of Lucifer, there has been a conflict. One day Daniel got a peek behind that curtain… (Daniel 10) Daniel, from the day you started praying I was sent but it took me 21 days because on the way I had to fight with the Prince of Persia… He got insight into that invisible war…that we don’t see. “Prince of Persia,” means there are assignments, order…
•Whenever there is a war, a fight, a battle, a conflict…we ought to know our enemies. Satan didn’t author a book, but God did and in it…he let the cat out of the bag…and detailed everything that was going to happen. Now, if that was your enemy, at that point, you would do everything to plan against that book, right? Now, with that frame, lets consider a few things…
•Gen 3:15. After the fall of man, God made a promise to the woman, to Eve. I am going to put enmity between you and your seed. And HE is going to bruise your head and you will bruise His heel. He will have a minor set-back, you will be dealt a major blow. Now, if someone said to you, enjoy your day, I’ll meet you back at home tonight and I’m going to crush your head, if you even remotely believed him then you would plan a counter attack…or a defense or something!
•So, what did Satan do…Gen 4…Cain becomes inspired to kill Abel. Abel was on the side of God. Abel is dead, Cain is cursed…Satan sighs relief…that’s the one. God raises up another line through Seth, Gen 6… Satan inspires unspeakable wickedness…to the point that the race becomes unredeemable and God must destroy the entire earth save 8 people… (Spoken of here in 1 Peter 3)…
•And through that 8 comes Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and we come to Gen 27 where Esau now wants to kill Jacob because Jacob was the promised seed that the scripture speaks about. Then Exodus Chapter 1, Pharaoh has this crazy rule that every Hebrew male child should be killed…why? An agent of Satan to destroy the Jews through whom the seed would come. Book of 1 Samuel, Saul wants to kill David, why? It would be through his line the messiah would come…
•Keep following history and we come across this wild passage. 2 Kings 11, 2 Chron 22, all the royal hires were to be put to death….and all were killed except one…Joash, who stays hidden until he’s 7….and the lineage continues…and this stuff goes on until Jesus is born and what does Herod say? All baby boys in Bethlehem, kill them all…. What’s that about? Same thing different day. A satanic attack. Jesus grows up and Satan tells him to jump off the pinnacle of the temple…same thing…
•Luke 4…Jesus proclaims Himself to be the Messiah, He is immediately taken to the brow of the hill on which the city was built to be cast off…but He passes through the midst of them. And this happens throughout the Bible…because it is attack, counter, attack, counter…invisible war throughout the Bible…all the way to the end…
•To the end of Revelation…John sees a sign in heaven…The dragon ready to devour the baby the moment it was born. Satan has always been on the attack against the promise. If God’s plan of war, plan of resistance against sin involves the existence of a nation…easy, destroy the nation…defeat God…tried on several occasions throughout history… There is a co-existing invisible world…and within it there is conflict…and we see here there are convicts in the invisible world…
•“Spirits in prison.” Rev 9 calls this prison the Abyss…or Bottomless Pit. The realm of fallen spirits. Something happened, and there are spirits being held there…so much so that other demons do not want to go there…., (Luke Chapter 8). They beg Jesus not to be sent there…
•This is the place where Satan and his kingdom will be bound for 1,000 years…and will once again, right before the end of the end, be released again. So, who are they and why are they there? What did they do? Jude, 2 Peter…Jude Chapter 1 Verse 6, “The angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.”
•2 Peter 2:4-5, “For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly – angels being held.”
•There is some group that have been incarcerated at some point…and Peter says it was at the time of Noah. This takes us to Genesis 6 Verses 1-2, “Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.”
•The Sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were good for wives…and they took them…and some sort of offspring was the result and violence was upon the earth. The only solution was to destroy the earth….
•Sons of God was a Hebrew term, OT term for angelic beings…why sons of God…direct creation, one on one creation of God… Fallen angels that overstepped their boundaries and cohabitated with women. Not possible. I agree. Demon possession is however very possible. Demon possessed humans attaching themselves to other humans as man and wife…producing a generation of children that were unredeemable…
•Why unredeemable? Angels are unredeemable. We are saved by grace through faith and faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen…and yet the angelic realm as seen…no chance of salvation by faith…faith is not possible. Unredeemable. And so, why would God destroy the entire earth? Did God change? He spared Sodom for the sake of 10 righteous souls…? The entire earth, save Noah and his family, was perhaps a polluted and unredeemable bloodline…just like it will be again as the Bible says the day of the Lord will be as the days of Noah….
•The state of the world at the time of Noah…120 years of Noah’s preaching caused how many converts….? Not one…. The Bible calls him a preacher of righteousness and not one redeemed…. Why? Perhaps it wasn’t even possible… God took those demons and put them in prison, the wicked of the wicked, the worst of the worst… And again, they will be released one last time and things will get very very bad…
•The fact that Peter mentioned this and gives no detail…shows that his audience was far more familiar than we are… And I’m not going to dig in and die on this hill…until I got a few key pieces of information, I vehemently rejected this perspective for years and its fine if you do to, but this discussion seems to lay quite flat for me. There is a co-existing invisible realm, the realm of the spirit. And in that realm there is conflict and there are convicts….and finally….there was a conquest…
1 Peter Chapter 3 Verses 21 - 22
•There was a conquest in the invisible world. V22…notice all angels, all authorities, all powers put under Jesus, God Himself and yet also man… After all attempts failed…Jesus died and the demonic world rejoiced…but then He raised Himself from the grave. And today, Jesus reigns and His nation is 2/3 to 1/3 including you and including me and including this church and our weaponry is crazy strong!

1 Pedro Capítulo 3 Versículos 13–17
· Las dos frases clave que casi parecen en mi comprensión natural que ni siquiera encajan son "eres bendecido" y "es mejor", y esas no encajan naturalmente para mí porque en ambas circunstancias el contexto es sufriendo. ¿Qué? El sufrimiento se describe como el estado de sufrir dolor, angustia o dificultad... ¿Y Pedro nos está diciendo a ti y a mí que somos bendecidos y que esto es mejor? Difícil de vender, hombre.
· Pero estas son las estaciones de radio 44k que transmiten, las señales de 33k sobre el aire que hay en este momento, y se necesita un equipo especial para conocer, utilizar y beneficiarse de esta verdad verdaderamente natural. Hay una felicidad prometida. Una satisfacción preparada. Una satisfacción escondida en la sabiduría y la rectitud.
· Para el que santificará al Señor Dios en su corazón y sufrir, mi elección, la culpa de nadie más y nadie la está causando excepto yo, mi elección ... porque podría amargarme, podría desquitarme, podría ejercer mi derecho humano a la justicia, pero elijo más bien averiguar y buscar si hay algo mejor... en lugar de ser como ellos, elijo ser diferente, el estado y la ley del espíritu es que al hacerlo, sí sufriré en el momento o la temporada, pero al final soy yo quien se llenará de esperanza, bendecido y se encontrará en un mejor estado. ¡Y Pedro en realidad incluso habla aquí de que la vergüenza está sobre aquellos que me causaron el dolor en primer lugar ... lo cual es agradable, JA!
1 Pedro Capítulo 3 Versículo 18
· Y ahí están las buenas nuevas de todo... ¡ese es el evangelio! Los pies a seguir... el Líder de toda verdad, rectitud, paz, gozo, amor y poder. Este es Su camino, lo que ya hemos discutido. Y al abrir este camino, Él también sufrió... pero mira... ¡UNA VEZ por los pecados!
· ¿Qué significa eso? ¡Prácticamente es una declaración de esperanza de la recompensa de la fe, la confianza y la determinación por el bien de la bondad en tu vida es el poder de hacerlo de nuevo! ¡No quiero ser un felpudo! Odio darlo todo y que me den por sentado a cambio. No puedo decirte cuántas veces he experimentado eso en mi vida... Pero para mí, esta declaración es una promesa de que no será lo que marque mi vida, sufrimiento... ya que creo que será la marca de mi vida... pero mi vida estará marcada por la bendición y la mejora a medida que avance... porque Jesús sufrió UNA VEZ...
· ¡Espiritualmente eso significa que la obra ha terminado! Nada que añadir. Nada más que hacer. No hay necesidad de la misa diariamente, semanalmente, mensualmente, anualmente ... ¡Ha terminado y el pecado ha sido derrotado, así que ahora todo lo que realmente se necesita es que yo mire a Jesús y reciba la obra terminada de mi justificación, perdón y redención! ¡Date cuenta de la realidad! Que por Jesús (el perfecto y justo) dando Su vida en mi lugar, he sido llevado a Dios y estoy vivo en el Espíritu, lo que significa que soy bienvenido en la presencia cercana del Padre, habiendo sido perdonado y limpiado de todo mi pecado por la expiación y el pago del pecado del Salvador, ¡Jesucristo!
· ¡Esas son buenas noticias! ¡Ese es el Evangelio! ¿Por qué? Porque lo más costoso posible no me cuesta nada. La salvación me ha sido dada, gratuitamente, al intenso costo personal de Jesucristo. Entonces, nada que lograr. Nada digno de ser digno. Nada a lo que tengo que alcanzar o lograr. ¡Todo para ganar! La vida eterna asegurada para mí y para ti y simplemente allí en la aceptación de Jesucristo.
1 Pedro Capítulo 3 Versículos 19– 20
· "Los espíritus en prisión que antes eran desobedientes", "la Divina Paciencia esperada", ¿qué significa todo esto? Mi verdadera respuesta es que no estoy del todo seguro... Pedro no toma los siguientes capítulos y dice: "Esto es lo que quise decir con los espíritus en prisión", o, "Esto es lo que quise decir con la Divina Paciencia esperó...", así que realmente, no podemos ser duros acerca de cosas como esta, pero podemos, a través de la compilación de la totalidad de las Escrituras y un poco de discusión, podemos o en este caso hoy, puedo ofrecerles tal vez una perspectiva.
· De lo que podemos estar seguros es de que dentro de este reino espiritual del que hemos hablado extensamente estas últimas dos semanas, hay problemas, algunos tipos de problemas y hay conflicto hasta el punto de que la paciencia fue requerida por parte de Dios mientras se construía el Arca (lo que implica que las cosas estaban tan mal en la tierra), y que hay cosas espirituales (y debemos concluir ángeles) que están reservados en algún tipo de prisión en el reino espiritual. Entonces, ¿qué significa, o quizás mejor dicho, qué podría significar todo esto?
· Hay un mundo invisible coexistente. La carne y el espíritu son dos reinos. Carne, lo que ves. Espíritu, lo que no ves. Cielo, no lo ves. Espíritus que no ves. Y Pedro dice: "Espíritus en prisión". Es como si Pedro nos llevara detrás del velo... para mostrarnos el mundo realmente real . El reino del espíritu ...
· 34 de los 66 libros hablan de seres angélicales. La palabra "ángel" aparece 280 veces a lo largo de la Palabra de Dios. Un ángel es un ser no corpóreo. No corpus. NINGÚN cuerpo. Aunque pueden asumir, como vemos muchas veces a lo largo de las Escrituras, la apariencia humana.
· ¿Cuántos hay? No lo sabemos exactamente. En Apocalipsis 5:11, Juan ve diez mil veces diez mil, y miles de miles... más de 100 millones de ángeles. Es posible que hayas conocido a uno... ¿Sabías eso? Hebreos 13:2 dice, ten cuidado de cómo tratas a los extraños porque algunos han entretenido a los ángeles sin darse cuenta...
· Satanás comenzó como un ángel. Fue llamado el querubín ungido en el Viejo Testamento. Un ser muy poderoso, bello, sabio e influyente que cayó de su posición original, de su causa original. Dios creó algo muy bueno, y actuando por su propia autoridad, cayó. Y cuando lo hizo, se llevó hasta un tercio de los ángeles con él según Apocalipsis 12. Y esa fuerza dirigida por Satanás se convirtió en una red altamente organizada con rankings y títulos... Efesios 6:12 dice: "Porque no luchamos contra la carne y la sangre, sino contra los principados, contra los poderes, contra los gobernantes de las tinieblas de esta era, contra las huestes espirituales de maldad en los lugares celestiales", Principados, poderes, gobernantes y huestes espirituales... esos son niveles de autoridad... y esos son rankings...
· Lo vemos en 1 Pedro 3:22..., "ángeles y autoridades y poderes"... y en este reino espiritual, hay un gran conflicto. Hay algún grupo que está en algún tipo de prisión. Desde la caída de Lucifer, ha habido un conflicto. Un día Daniel echó un vistazo detrás de esa cortina... (Daniel 10) Daniel, desde el día en que empezaste a rezar me enviaron pero me llevó 21 días porque en el camino tuve que pelear con el Príncipe de Persia... Tuvo una idea de esa guerra invisible ... que no vemos. "Príncipe de Persia", significa que hay asignaciones, orden...
· Siempre que hay una guerra, una pelea, una batalla, un conflicto... debemos conocer a nuestros enemigos. Satanás no escribió un libro, pero Dios sí lo hizo y en él... dejó que el gato saliera de la bolsa ... y detalló todo lo que iba a pasar. Ahora, si ese fuera tu enemigo, en ese momento, harías todo lo posible para planificar contra ese libro, ¿verdad? Ahora, con ese marco, consideremos algunas cosas ...
· Génesis 3:15. Después de la caída del hombre, Dios hizo una promesa a la mujer, a Eva. Voy a poner enemistad entre tú y tu semilla. Y ÉL te va a lastimar la cabeza y tú le vas a herir el talón. Tendrá un pequeño revés, recibirás un golpe importante. Ahora, si alguien te dijera, disfruta de tu día, te encontraré en casa esta noche y te voy a aplastar la cabeza, si incluso remotamente le creyeras, ¡entonces planearías un contraataque ... o una defensa o algo así!
· Entonces, ¿qué hizo Satanás... Gen 4... Caín se inspira para matar a Abel. Abel estaba del lado de Dios. Abel está muerto, Caín es maldecido... Satanás suspira aliviado... ese es el indicado. Dios levanta otro lina a través de Seth, Gen 6... Satanás inspira una maldad indescriptible... hasta el punto de que la raza se vuelve irredimible y Dios debe destruir toda la tierra salvo 8 personas ... (Se habla de eso aquí en Pedro 3)...
· Y a través de esos 8 viene Abraham, Isaac, Jacob y llegamos a Gen 27 donde Esaú ahora quiere matar a Jacob porque Jacob era la simiente prometida de la que habla la Escritura. Luego Éxodo Capítulo 1, Faraón tiene esta loca regla de que todo niño varón hebreo debe ser asesinado ... ¿por qué? Un agente de Satanás para destruir a los judíos a través de cuales esa semilla vendría. Libro de 1 Samuel, Saúl quiere matar a David, ¿por qué? Sería a través de su línea que vendría el mesías...
· Sigue la historia y nos encontramos con este pasaje salvaje. 2 Reyes 11, 2 Crón 22, todos los sueldos reales debían ser ejecutados... y todos fueron asesinados excepto uno... Joás, que permanece oculto hasta los 7 años... y el linaje continúa... y estas cosas continúan hasta que Jesús nace y ¿qué dice Herodes? Todos los bebés varones en Belén, mátenlos a todos.... ¿De qué se trata? Lo mismo diferente día. Un ataque satánico. Jesús crece y Satanás le dice que salte del pináculo del templo... Mismo...
· Lucas 4 ... Jesús se proclama a sí mismo como el Mesías, inmediatamente es llevado a la frente de la colina en la que se construyó la ciudad para ser desechado ... pero Él pasa por medio de ellos. Y esto sucede en toda la Biblia... porque es ataque, contra ataque, ataque, contra ataque... guerra invisible en toda la Biblia... hasta el final...
· Hasta el final del Apocalipsis... Juan ve una señal en el cielo... El dragón listo para devorar al bebé en el momento en que nació. Satanás siempre ha estado en el ataque contra la promesa. Si el plan de guerra de Dios, el plan de resistencia contra el pecado implica la existencia de una nación... fácil, destruir la nación ... derrotar a Dios... probado en varias ocasiones a lo largo de la historia... Hay un mundo invisible coexistente... y dentro de el hay conflicto... y vemos aquí que hay convictos en el mundo invisible...
· "Espíritus en prisión". Rev 9 llama a esta prisión el Abismo... o Pozo sin fondo. El reino de los espíritus caídos. Algo sucedió, y hay espíritus retenidos allí ... tanto es así que otros demonios no quieren ir allí..., (Lucas Capítulo 8). Le ruegan a Jesús que no sea enviado allí...
· Este es el lugar donde Satanás y su reino estarán atados por 1.000 años... y una vez más, justo antes del final del fin, será liberado de nuevo. Entonces, ¿quiénes son y por qué están allí? ¿Qué hicieron? Judas, 2 Pedro... Judas Capítulo 1 Versículo 6, "Los ángeles que no guardaron su dominio apropiado, sino que dejaron su propia morada, Él ha
reservado en cadenas eternas bajo la oscuridad para el juicio del gran día".
· 2 Pedro 2:4-5, "Porque si Dios no perdonó a los ángeles que pecaron, sino que los arrojó al infierno y los entregó a cadenas de tinieblas, para ser reservados para el juicio; y no perdonó al mundo antiguo, sino que salvó a Noé, una de las ocho personas, un predicador de justicia, trayendo el diluvio sobre el mundo de los impíos, ángeles retenidos".
· Hay algún grupo que ha sido encarcelado en algún momento... y Pedro dice que fue en la época de Noé. Esto nos lleva a Génesis 6 versículos 1-2, "Ahora sucedió, cuando los hombres comenzaron a multiplicarse sobre la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas, que los hijos de Dios vieron a las hijas de los hombres, que eran hermosas; y tomaron para sí esposas de todos los que eligieron".
· Los Hijos de Dios vieron a las hijas de los hombres que eran buenas para esposas... y se las llevaron... y algún tipo de descendencia fue el resultado y la violencia fue sobre la tierra. La única solución era destruir la tierra...
· Hijos de Dios era un término hebreo, término en el AT de los seres angelicales... por qué hijos de Dios... creación directa, creación uno a uno de Dios... Ángeles caídos que sobrepasaron sus límites y cohabitaron con las mujeres. No es posible. De acuerdo. Sin embargo, la posesión demoníaca es muy posible. Demonio poseía humanos que se unían a otros humanos como hombre y esposa ... produciendo una generación de niños que eran irredimibles...
· ¿Por qué irredimible? Los ángeles son irredimibles. Somos salvos por gracia a través de la fe y la fe es la sustancia de las cosas esperadas por la evidencia de cosas invisibles... y, sin embargo, el reino angélical como se ve ... ninguna posibilidad de salvación por fe... la fe no es posible. Irredimible. Y entonces, ¿por qué Dios destruiría toda la tierra? ¿Cambió Dios? ¿Salvó a Sodoma por el bien de 10 almas justas...? La tierra entera, salvo Noé y su familia, era quizás una tierra contaminada e irredimible. Linaje... así como será de nuevo como dice la Biblia, el día del Señor será como los días de Noé...
· El estado del mundo en la época de Noé... 120 años de la predicación de Noé causaron cuántos conversos...? Ni uno.... La Biblia lo llama un predicador de justicia y no uno redimido... ¿Por qué?
